ABS sensor/Speedo issues
« on: May 21, 2020, 07:28:59 PM »
I haven't been on here a lot lately, I was wondering if there was a thread about ABS sensor failures, in particular on the V7 III, but could be the same part on other bikes.
I've had two sensors fail on my V7 in the space of about 4,000 miles.  I've only got around 16,000 miles on the bike since August '17, so I was wondering if there was a bad batch of sensors.
Any similar issues?

Phil

Typically with that sort of sensor it has a hard epoxy body and the cable is relatively soft. As the wire bends coming out of the body it creates a leak path for any moisture to wick right inside to the electrical connections. This was a very common occurrence with early speed sensors. Try drying it out with gentle heat if it starts working or on the replacement seal around the cable entry point with silicone sealant, it will keep a seal as it's able to stretch with the cable. That reminds me I must look at the sensors on my V7.
