Caught between a rick and a hard place.

I routinely rescue turtles. Spotted this one (about 15#) trapped by the roadside while out on the T3.
With Snapping Turtles the procedure is a quick lift by the tail and hold at arm's length so he doesn't have a shot at your leg.

I think this fellow felt anything was better than his current situation.
He was trapped about 10 feet from a good turtle pond.
I think he was pleased when I put him back into the pond.

I'm informed by my naturalist son that lifting them by the tail is likely to cause spine damage. Better to handle them by the rear of the shell (out of range of the beak), or better yet, use a shovel, stick or other mechanical aid to help them along.
