unique Guzzi Ambassador I'd like to know more about it
« on: July 02, 2020, 11:25:49 AM »
I was surfing the internet the other day and came across this early Ambassador with a one of a kind fairing. There no information about the bike just the pictures. The licence plate is Florida and the date looks like 2006 .I am curious who built it and where it is right now,by the looks of it, the guy must have been an engineer with aviation back ground, most people would think this is ugly but not me I can appreciate the thought and work that went into creating this ,I love the glove box door ,can you imagine how much stuff you could cram into both of those cool cylindrical cowls, and I'm sure those cowls had sealed beams looking forward ,3 head lights now that's very cool. From the photos you can make out a few stickers of places he had visited on this bike. The one I can read says Ontario so this bike was no trailer queen ,its got some miles and history behind it.I want to know more,I'm friends with Frank Wedge the director of MGNOC and I was sure that he must have seen this bike at some time during the 70's or 80's at one of the many Rallies Frank has put on and gone to over the past 50 years .But he says he has never seen it before , so the mystery continues.I was telling my wife the guy that built this bike must have been very proud of it and rode it for many years and my theory is he got old and retired to Florida and maybe died ,the bike has been languishing on a carport under a tarp and rusting away because of the salt air.
So what I'm hoping is that one of you members knows something about the bike and where it is now so I can rescue it and restore it to its former glory.

Wowzers! That is the answer to a question that was never asked! But man! Is that cool or what? Sadly I could never ride it. Looks like short riders only.
I hope you can find and restore it. Maybe the FL DMV can see from the tag who it is? But will they tell you? Probably need a DMV Inspector to do that.

I think someone chopped off and modified the front fenders of a fiberglass sportscar to make that.

That bike has been mentioned here on WG, but it has been several years ago.  The bike was for sale I believe on Ebay, in Florida.   Maybe some else with a better memory.... ? Perhaps Ebay can track it down for you.

It was in Tampa in 2016, for sale on EBAY. This website shows the bike's VIN#  http://www.bike-urious.com/rare-fairing-1971-moto-guzzi-ambassador-project/   You may be able to find the owner on "This old tractor loop list". Good luck and let us know if you find it.  :thumb:

If it sold last out of Florida, that front yard sure does look like eBay seller McLaren something who sells a lot of old bikes low start, no reserve.
If he sold it, maybe he would reveal the buyer.

I forget his actual seller name (for now)
