I'll add one.  This is a photograph that I just scanned five minute ago.
It's 1926, and the that marine is my grandfather at Ash Fork, Arizona.  It seems that the Santa Fe Railroad was having trouble with train robberies, so the USMC was assigned to protect the train.  My grandfather would sit in the mail car with this weapon (which, I think, hardly needs to be aimed to be effective) riding between Los Angeles and Ash Fork.  I don't believe he ever had any trouble, but then, any robber would be pretty stupid to try to rob a train being protected by the United States Marines (even if there was only one on board).

My grandfather's notes:

Several train robberies had been reported and the Marines were being assigned to mail-guard duty all over the country.

I was assigned a run to Ashfork, Arizona aboard The Chief on the Santa Fe Railroad.

Between October and December, 1926 I made thirteen trips in the mail car.

I was equipped with a sawed-off shotgun with twenty rounds of ammunition of buckshot, and I also carried a Colt 45 with twenty-one rounds.

I’d bet that a model 97 Winchester and I’ll offer this old picture a 30’s something WSPD Motor Officer.

Here's another (few years later) shot of my grandfather.  That's a '46 Harley-Davidson UL and the dog's name is Skippy (my mother's dog).  It's winter, so the cold-weather equipment is in place.

Here's Dad in N Africa before going to Anzio beach. He got a ride home on the Queen Mary (too bad he was in a body cast)

I LOVE old photos. I go to FSSF Brats FB page for pics of Dad's Army history and Missouri History for the local stuff

Me, almost 40 yrs ago...
I was on a trip with my '66 Bonneville and saw my favorite motorcycle in the back of a pickup truck. Probably wasn't worth an arm and a leg like they are now!

My adoptive father was 50 when I was born. The photo is my father and his younger brother. My father would have been going on seven years of age. This was also a postcard photo, notice the date.

One more because it so depicts the fun in the simple things in life such as swimming in the stock tank with the cousins. The young folk in the picture would have been the generation before me.

Yep.  Have thought about it often.    ...It was a thrill though, to see one up close!
Still have that leather jacket I was wearing (along with the Bonneville I was riding..) and I'm married to the gal that was with me on the trip!  :boozing:

No bikes here but I ran across this photo from 1940 and thought; well, if this doesn't typify the Brit's Keep Calm and Carry On attitude I don't know what does.

He lost the run of himself.

This is the staff of the army's motorcycle school at Ft. Knox, Kentucky on June 23, 1943.  My Dad is the tenth man from the left on the back row.  The bike on the right is a Harley XA.

Another of my Dad from sometime in the thirties.

I've still got a pair of those old cold weather mittens in my stash of riding gear! Not much feel for the controls, but made riding on the frozen rivers back in Iowa tolerable back in the day.

My Grandpa’s company prior to Omaha Beach. I found the picture in the barn. I spent over 23 years in the Army. He never spoke of the time he served.
