Throttle cables for V7 Sport with Tommaselli?
« on: July 22, 2020, 10:00:04 AM »
What cables have people used with a Tommaselli throttle on the V7 Sport?  850T seem to be the closest but too long?

If you need to modify, I have a new set of V7 Sport throttle cables I would donate to the cause.

Give Harper's a jingle.

The 850 Le Mans has "bellcrank" tops on the carbs, so the cables are totally different.

OK, how about a set for the Tommaselli that are 44" overall length, 39 1/2" sheath?  They are new but probably too short.

The cable set I have for the stock V7 Sport measure overall length at 46".

Now that I look more closely this is probably a stock SP/CX cable for use with the stock plastic throttle/control of that model.  Sorry.

What bars- original swan neck, plain tommaselli low clip ons, riser/z-style clip ons, ?

My V7 Sport has a two cable Tommaselli Daytona 2C throttle and plain Tommaselli clips-ons.  I made mine from spare too-long cables on hand.  Not very difficult, especially if your existing cable already has at least one soldered end instead of crimped or molded ends.  remove it to reuse.

Good question! OEM Swan Necks. You're right, probably easiest to modify the OEM cable.
Thank you.

On my Sport i used the short cables from a T3 with the short handlebars.
Tomaselli throttle assembly.
I also had the swan neck bars .The cables mentioned above were the correct lengthen for my application.

Ill update this thread with the part # in a few minutes.

Here you go,

These numbers are from the period 1976 ish factory parts book and may have been updated over the years. These cables ARE NOT for the Police style bars

At the same time Barnett also made cables for the T3.

17117500 Twist grip cable NEED 2

17122550 choke cable RH
17134050 choke cable LH/

I used individual lift chokes on each carb. Hope this info helps.
