Just thought I'd put this here in case of use to others with CARC shaft drive torque arms. I had a metallic clang or knocking on rolling on/off throttle, especially at lower speeds. I followed the instructions here
https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/carc-reaction-rod.12162/With a new 'silent block' ( 883045 ) in the CARC torque arm at the swing arm end the clang / knock is 80% gone and now only the normal shaft drive noise is present. The clanging was more metallic and harsh than the duller noise from the gear oil lubricated shaft gears.
The noise, I now know, was the worn bush at the swing arm end. I haven't cut it up to see, so i am unsure if it is a spherical bearing or a bush with a very thin rubber lining between 2 metal sleeves. Anyway, the new 'silentblock' bush is clearly a more squishy rubber bush and it makes the drive far smoother. The bush was about £11. The only tricky bit was pushing out the old bush, which was very stubborn, and pushing in the new. I used a bench vice (no bench tho lol!), a couple of sockets, one about 19mm to press on the bush OD, and one about 26 mm to create a space for the old bush being pushed out to enter while being squeezed out by compression in the vice.
