Okay guys, I am either effin cursed or freaking lucky!

Got the new (used) rpm sensor in today. Installed it. My Quota started right up. I let it idle for probably 3-4 minutes. It didn’t die. Gave it some fuel to make sure it warmed up enough. I was JUST about to throw the seat on it when I gave it throttle once more and noticed fuel squirting out of the brand new fuel filter!!! I thought, I need to tighten the clamp. Nope. Manufacturing defect. Fuel is coming out of the barb neck on the metal filter! My ass would LITERALLY have been on fire!!! The filter is a fram G4777 as cross referenced from Greg benders site. I didn’t want to use fram but didn’t want to wait on shipping either. Screw that. I ain’t using fram at all from now on!

Well, in the 'glass is half full' department, you might have at least gotten the overheat issue knocked out.

Was the filter neck bent or something, like dropped and damaged? That is pretty weird.

I'm thinking JB Weld and duct tape......

Maybe not....

I know right! Thanks guys! 😂😂😂

Wayne, I didn’t drop it at all and it wasn’t damaged. Brand new out of a non damaged box. I installed it just before coming up to your place just to rule out a clogged filter.

I’m just going to take it back, exchange it for an oil filter for my moms 22re Toyota pickup, and get a wix filter. Unless it would be worth it to order a filter from MG cycle. I think it’s a uni filter from MG. Anyway, I like the filters with the barbs already in place.

the picture looks like the clamp is bottomed out on itself so not tight on the fuel line.

I agree.  That clamp looks suspect.   I suggest getting the proper size Oetiker clamps and a crimp tool.

It’s a fuel injection style clamp. Not a hose clamp.

i cracked a fuel line on the v65 (which has a fuel pump- long story dont ask) out on the blue ridge parkway with my wife on the back, I had no tools, and not even a scrap of duct tape...

I coasted down every hill I could, but had to start the bike every few minutes to go up the next hill...  and then all the way home once we got to town! Our feet and pants where moist with gas from the spray under the tank-- truly terrifying. My wife wanted to kill me, but I'm too dumb to die.  :thewife: :thewife: :thewife: :thewife:

I am NOT paying $177 for the oem Weber/marinelli fuel filter. Seriously do a search for them. Even the ufi and generic filters from MG Cycle and Harpers are not oem.
