Crossing the Mojave next weekend
« on: September 16, 2020, 01:47:20 PM »
Ridding from L.A. to Lake Tahoe via  CA14 and US395 next weekend. Hopefully I won't encounter much smoke by then. On the way back next week, I'll spend a couple nights in Yosemite. Was planning on going last week, but 109 is just too dang hot!

Be sure you have reservations to enter Yosemite.  Due to - they’re only allowing people in that have a reservation, even to just pass through.  Don’t ask me how I know.

+1 on the Yosemite reservation.
I had to do so in advance in May in order to get to a Nevada event.  No fee for a "pass through" on CA-120, but had to pay the $2 'online' service fee.  Even so, when I got to the entry gate there was mass confusion about how I was going to get back several days later.  Park entries are good for 7 days.  But, they weren't going to let me back because I didn't have a specific reservation to come back.  WTF? Fortunately found a sympathetic Ranger who gave me proper entry/exit paperwork.
