Having just bought one, to me it fits right in between my 1200 Sport and 750 Breva. I particularly appreciate the riding position and lighter weight compared to the 1200, and more integrity than the 750.

How does your 12S compare to your Strada on tour?

1200 is better set up to tour, because it's got Norge bags. And I updated it with Aprilia Mana handlebars. But I also have an SP II, which sure is a nice tourer...but a little short on things like modern brakes.

I consider the Strada as my equivalent to a V9...

Just out of curiosity, how tall are you?

I tried an SP3 when they were introduced, and I couldn't sit on it without my knees hitting the fairing HARD.

But then, I have a 32" inseam.  How's yours?

Good advice.  I'm similar in stature and had the same issues with my SP111.  I finally sold it.

That's the thing about SPIIIs .... if your inseam is over about 31", you might as well forget about it.   

One of our posters here had the nicest SPIII in the country a few years back, and it was for sale.   I put the asking price in my pocket and Fay and I took off, riding gear in hand, intending for me to ride it home the 220 miles or so.

We got there, hopped on it and tried it out, and I almost cried .... like Cinderella's evil stepsister trying to get her foot into the glass slipper, I said "I'll MAKE it fit!!", but with my 33" inseam I couldn't - no way would my knees go behind the fairing where they belonged, and Fay still have any room on the seat to sit.

I have to take the lowers off of an SP-NT to fit, but at least it's still an SP ... an SPIII without the fairing is a Strada and you might as well buy a real one ....

I have a 34" inseam. The PO had the seat shaved and it fits me well. I still do hit my knees when really horsing it. .
It does have some buffeting in the helmet for a passenger, so I just don't do 2 up. For me the wind hits me in the top half of the helmet so its fine.
She loves spring and fall riding!!!! Toasty warm and has more pep. Hot days suck!!!
The Strada has to be even quicker shedding all the plastic bits. Mine runs real good with the mid valve engine and 36 pumpers.
That leads me to another ??  Why do they say that it had the carb swap done like it is a matter of course??

It's possible that if I had had the seat re-shaped, the bars moved back a bit, the footpegs moved back a bit (all doable on this very modular bike), that I could have custom-fitted it to me if I were alone on the bike.   

But a bike like that, I almost never ride alone!   Thus the Stelvio, with room for two all over the place ....
