Really?

Can you name anyone else than Ed Pratt and Walter J. Watts who have cycled around the world with unicycle?
I cannot name any other cyclists.

Nothing new referred to the '70s trip. It was new then.
50 years later replicating the trip is great but "nothing new".

Great to see bigger than life attempts by our youth. 3 cheers for this young man.
No way to make this sound less than what it is.
Most people age out of their sense of adventure as lifes responsibilities intervene.
But, hopefully, we get them where and when we can, just on a much smaller scale.
Unicycling? Around the world? Damn!! Go kid, go!! :thumb:

In that case then, we may as well never post ride reports or bike rebuilds  on WG, because it’s “nothing new..”
There is nothing new under the Sun, but there are still fabulous achievements spawned by people who think past the horizon.. :thumb:
You really are asking for a shot across the bow if you adopt a dismissive tone like that towards this guy.
Itchy boots has done “nothing new”.
It may very well have been done before, but that bears no relevance to the magnitude of the quest...
Also.
If he gets to Australia, travelling from Perth to Melbourne puts him 10 km from my place on the way past.

It would be nice if the WG community could follow his progress and say hi to him and offer assistance as he passes by...

Yup, Nothing new. One guy did it already.  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Wally 12.000 miles
Ed 21.000 miles

A very sad way of expressing excitement in a young persons three year achievement.

He did finish his ride and is back in England. I watched the last episode of him riding through NYC.(it's the one I stumble on) I would't do that on my bicycle.

I'll try a second time:
I just wrote an apology to the group and it failed to publish.

My sincerest apologies to those of our group that I offended with my post.

It was written on one of my not so good days.

I do admire individuals who set and achieve goals almost beyond my imagination.

I am also impressed when a young person steps out of the queue and walks a path of his own making.

My remarks were inappropriate and I offer my apologies to those who were rightly disturbed by their content.

And congratulations to the young man and his unique success.

Good on you mate... :thumb:
You deserve respect and from me at least, you have earned it. A sincere apology is always acceptable, although I think retraction is a better term to describe your offering.
Many times I have responded to something here just before bed and re read it in the morning..
In some cases I have managed to edit or delete before anyone responds to my truculence.
Hats off to you Sir...

Hope someone has told him he'll need a guide through some of those countries. Hurts my nuts just looking at that ride. Anyway good on him for having a go.

It was interesting to watch his videos a while back, and he did have a ton of adventures and wild camping escapades.  As a unicyclist, I cannot even begin to fathom doing what he did, there were some days he was cranking out massive kilometers, riding nonstop thru the night.

Huzo...you'll be able to find his episodes driving some of the same highways you go on regularly!

Fun fun fun to watch!

Youtube...same place as Noraly and "On her bike"...just search for Ed Pratt and you can see his series and subscribe to the channel if you like, so it's in your "favorites" list.
