Fuel line disconnect ?
«
on:
July 03, 2024, 07:52:35 PM »
I need to disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump on the tank. Whatever I do nothing seems to move or release. I don’t want to break the plastic fittings. What am I missing or doing wrong ?
Thx, dave

Is it this deceptively easy a-hole?
If so, the trick is to
pull
, not squeeze—get behind the end of the fitting, and pull it off. As many have noted over the years, take care not to break that elbow.

Thanks for the pix an explanation. That’s what I thought and was trying. I’m probably being overly cautious.
It’s on my 04 cafe sport

I can deal with my Griso, but my Royal Enfield defeated me. So I bought a tool, which is said to be helpful for those whose fingers are not tiny and strong enough:

Haven't tried it. Looks promising.

It's been a while..but from memory
you push on the fuel line while pulling back the outer sleeve on the fitting. Think quick disconnect air hose.

I agree, push fuel line in while pulling back on grey sleeve. Of course you have to pull back on sleeve slightly more then you are pushing on line. I still have trouble now and then but most of the time it come off easily. Also try disconnecting plug to fuel pump then try to start bike. May help in taking pressure off the line.

It helps to relieve pressure in line, unplug electric to pump & start, It won't start but squirts pressure out.

Part of my Osmosis system uses the same kind of connectors. Easy to access to practice on before trying it on the bike.
