I'll just continue to use $1.50 in aquarium tubing and 10 or 12 cc's of a colored oil as in ATF or used motor oil to do carb/TB syncs.

Those went quik.  I have the Twin Max and am happy with it. There is a little learning curve to using it as with anything. I have checked its performance against a homemade manometer and  was surprised how well it works on carbed and fi guzzis. The trick is to read the needle swing past  o on either side vs trying to acieve a steady zero reading. On high sensitivity it is very accurate.  I have heard the Harmonizer is a great tool . I hope they come back around soon.

I've used mine for many years, bought when Grok was first selling them on ADV Rider. I still have my Morgan Carbtune and various other synch units, but the Harmonizer is the best. Pretty hard to establish engine rpm with a bunch of hose and some oil.....

I have used Twinmax for a number of years as well to achieve what I thought were good results, but recently switched over to the Carbtune 4. 

What a world of difference in terms of accuracy, ease of use and end result.  Not as cheap as the 1.50 plus oil, but not as expensive as the Harmonizer in case someone is looking for something good.

Reading back on many threads here, seems like quite a few folks use the Carbtune to good success as well.

What a disappointment. I still use it, but it will never compare to the mercury sticks. The needle on the Twinmax bounces all over when you turn it up. The calibration drifts, so you have to constantly recalibrate it. Pretty expensive garbage IMHO. You can make it work, but it is a hassle.

I haven't had these problems with my twin Max. The needle will swing until you get closer to being in sync then you can turn up the sensitivity. A good 9v battery is important,( in the twinmax) . Also you need to use the restricting orifices that are included.  Zero out calibration and set sensitivity to 50 percent. Close air bleeds and connect . Sync tbs at 3-4 thou rpms. You can turn up the sensitivity once you have things balanced out at the 50 percent setting.  Continue this progression until you achieve even balance at full the sensitivity setting. Use the same tactic while doing the idle balance.  If the needle is bouncing all over it's because the sensitivity is set too high for the current state of balance. You have to work your way progressively up through the sensitivity, if that makes sense.

I have had a Harmonizer for 8 years or so, it has worked for balancing the throttle bodies on my FI bikes well enough.  I didn't know it was anything special though

I've used the twinmax for at least ten or maybe fifteen years. Last year I got a harmonizer when they were available and love it. The Twinmax worked well for me and I didn't have a problem with the swinging needle. I left it on max sensitivity and worked from there. Never any issues, though I learned to remove the battery after each use. The twinmax got me 95% of the way there - the harmonizer goes all the way. I haven't used the tachometer part of the tool - partly because I haven't taken the time to figure it out, but also because I tend to tune where it sounds right.

I sold the twinmax, but have a second one I kept for backup. If anyone wants it, I'll sell it for $50.
