Definitely an odd critter -  but someone has some mechanical talent!

     For once I'm glad to see a guzzi for sale that's too far away to even consider

     I'm ashamed to say it, but if it was local, I think I'd have to find room in the garage for it 

     I can't read the name of the label, but it looks like it might be "Bolens", if so, some of their older compact tractors had very stout drivetrains; the weak link of all pulling garden tractors.

     I recently watched the garden tractor pulls at a local fair; the stock classes weren't that exciting, but the open modified class was off the charts crazy, ie 4 cyl Suzuki bike engines and 500 cc 2 stroke triple snowmobile engines etc a lot of sound and fury in a compact machine

     Most of the super modified tractors were built around older,small Case drivetrains, but that Bolens, might be comparable in strength,idk?

     Add a little weight on the front to hold it down,,, and a big set of paddle wheels at the back to dig in,,, open headers with the guzzi at full throttle,,, yup, hold my beer,,,  redneck heaven, here I come 

     Of course, chrome cylinders might be a game changer,,,

I would look real cool cruising down my dirt road on that.  Hell of a mail getter. Or perfect to pull a little trailer with the trashcans down the mountain.

After such details were discussed with the seller, a purchase agreement was reached a few minutes ago....  Hopefully all will proceed as discussed.  Next is resolving pick-up schedule of the Mower Guzzi.

Easiest way to tell a lawn tractor from a garden tractor is look at the rear wheels. A garden tractor will have a substantial transaxle and the wheels will be 12" or bigger with lug nuts. A lawn tractor with a belt drive to the transaxle the rear wheel will have a plain hub.

"My granddaddy bought a house and some land.  The owner that built this tractor had died, so they auctioned off everything.  This was the only thing that nobody would bid on, so it came with the property and house.  He had it running once after he got it....."





















It's a Bolens Huffy tractor.  Frame and hood have both been stretched. 3 point hitch single wheelie bar..  Looks like engine is a late 850 with VP prefix serial number, SS1 carbs, electric fan mounted in front of the generator belt

Rebuilding this engine for this tractor isn't an option for me.  I got it for spares for my accumulating second V700 project but almost hate to deconstruct it.  The carbs and intakes will stay here.  After that, ?  Whatever goes away- especially if all the Guzzi parts stay here- won't be expensive, especially if you have some loop bits I still need.  If someone has a more viable Guzzi power plant and a burning desire, I can set you up.
