Tubeless spoked rims (Stelvio riders?)
« on: February 15, 2021, 01:45:36 PM »
I'm thinking that it's about time that some of you should be changing the o-rings on the spokes.  Anyone do that yet? All or just the ones leaking?  Whole spoke or partial replacement?

I thought my spokes were leaking on my 14 but my dealer replaced the valves.I think there is still some very minor leaking but not a lot.

I used the 3M adhesive band to seal the spoke area inside the rim. None have ever been leaking, but i think its just matter of time...
Once the $15 fix is not working anymore, then its time to put hand deep in pocket and buy the Kineo tubeless rims.
Like my father used to say.... Next year you will not remember how much it was.

No leaking issues on my 13's wheels after 47k miles and lots of offroad use. Im on my second Griso with the same system and they hold air just the same as my FJR's cast wheels.

How bad is it leaking?

I don't have a bike with the newer spokes.  I was just wondering since this would be about the time that the o-rings would start to have failures.

Had my 2012 for 5 years now,the front wheel has always leaked enough that I had to pump 5 lbs of air in every couple weeks. the rear tire never lost any air. anyway last  summer I decided I'm going to find those leaky spokes and fix them. I got a big enough tub, filled it with water, put the front wheel in and to my surprise the only thing leaking air was the tubeless valve stem. I had to fix that and have been good since.
It's worth a try to check your wheel under water to know for sure where the leak is. :violent1:

Was it the valve core stem or the valve core that was leaking?

It was the valve stem where the gasket meets the rim.

I'm encouraged by the responses so far as I just bought an Alpina wheel for the rear of my V85. Looking forward to many carefree miles with it.

Should be able to buy 2021 Guzzi V85 wheels before to long. Wonder how they'll price out compared to aftermarket items.

The front is something like $495 with the rear a little more expensive. The '21 V85 wheels are available to order right now.
