Saddle rebuild today
« on: March 26, 2021, 06:24:50 AM »
I’m heading to mean City Cycle this morning, with 3 of my Pals, to get the seat rebuilt on my Stone, the factory one sux! I’ll give a report tonight on the results. However I know it will be a vast improvement as I have had them to do three other seats in the past and anything is an improvement over the board that’s on it now.

Hi Dan,                                                                                   3-26-21

Sounds like an interesting place.  Can you get it back the same day or is it a 'leave it and retreve it' situation?

Be well, stay well,

Interesting. What do they do, sit you on the bike and measure you and the bike? You tell them where you want to be positioned on the bike and they modify the foam and recover the seat?
Inquiring minds just have to know...

Yup Dusty,                                                                            3-26-21

Right you are.  Our solution is this...whenever I have to leave my bike for service, Barb follows me in the car.  Then we go out to lunch, shopping, etc.  We try to make a day out of it.

Intrested on how it comes out!  The one on my bike is REAL bad!!  I REALLY need to jump it up on the "we need to fix this!" list.

There are plenty of good saddle makers who can fix the abysmal V7 stock seats, which are shaped completely wrong for comfort.
Eddie at 73 Cycle in CT and Pat Mitchell at Astech Saddle in IN come to mind.  There are others.

Danny's bike is an older BB Stone , although you are correct .

Not a Guzzi but..
Respect to those skilled in seat rebuilding!
Last week I made an attempt at inserting a more dense foam where it was needed most. Help from the wifey with well placed stitches.
Put original cover back on when completed.
What a PIA though satisfied with results and didn't cost a cent,
though next time I'll "leave it to the professionals"..

UPDATE:
There is simply no doubt that the foam used by these seat builders is far superior to the lesser quality used from the factory. I can tell anyone who wants to hear, the cost was well worth it and the ride home was amazing how much difference a great quality foam and properly shaped, changes your stock saddle from really crappy to a great seat.
One can call Allen, the owner and rebuilder, and make an appointment to ride in on Friday’s and wait for the job to get fixed. The list runs around a month behind or the seat can be shipped.
This is the 4th saddle Mean City has redone for me and the quality of work is great. I highly recommend them.
A single seat runs around 150.00 and cash can help a bit.

Thats a great price!  Do one have the solo seat, one piece stone, or the two piece?

I have the separate  solo and back. However he can go just the front rider part on a one piece for the same price as doing the solo. I think this answers your question?
