NGC my latest build

I won’t bother going into details cause the mods will probably delete the whole thread since it’s not a motorcycle… it’s a cello banjo.

Just recently taken up the clawhammer banjo and wasn't aware of the cello banjo. Love it!

Cello banjo = CGDA, correct?

A good friend just had a cello tenor guitar built.  What a deep sound!

Me, I'm still in the GDAE mandolin (and octave mando), and fiddle world.

Taz, it’s called a hand drum from Remo. This one 14”
Farmall, gDGBD .. just one octave lower than a standard banjo. Can tune to any common banjo tuning.
Chuck, it was new to me too. Only made by one company (currently) Gold Tone and they cost $1500. My build was under $100..good enough to see how I like the lower register.. so far I like it very much.

So yeah I bought the drum part and made the neck from two slabs of curly maple and Padauk wood for the fret board.

That’s very cool, foto.  Love seeing people make what they enjoy.

Gotta ask- did you sign and date it somewhere?

That’s cool! I’ve never heard of a cello banjo. Bet it sounds great.
I built a T-Thinline style guitar out of crappy scraps from Lowe’s (the leading supplier of warp wood) and the maple strip in the center was in the trash. Only hand tools used. I made my own logo by printing on Hobby Lobby decal paper. Not really happy with the ergonomics so planning on going another direction next time. Since this was my first attempt here’s hoping my craftsmanship will be improved.

The pictures show, finished repair next to its brother, how the repair was done, and the golfball crack /dent that was in it when I received  it. The guitar’s are 1960’s Red Label Nippon Gakki Yamaha FG -75’s.

Nothing like Foto’s or Zener’s build from new projects, but in my opinion, some old guitars / instruments, like Guzzi’s and other bikes are too nice to part out or trash.
