Today’s ride: Bell Mountain, Georgia.

Today the fabulous Mrs. Wavedog had an online class all day so I got on the old Guzzilla and took off for the day. I didn't get as early a start as I had planned but it worked out great. The route was sort of planned but of course since I am fairly new to the area I made a few unplanned spontaneous turns and managed to put on a few extra miles. I rode 17/75 up to Bell mountain, got chased on Shake Rag road by a bored dog that needed some fun, but he was faster than me and since I was not entertaining he resumed the boredom mode. On the way back I took 180, then the Russell B, then some other curvy roads then I don't know how but I managed to find my way home and avoided that giant traffic suck-hole that is Winder. Did you know that all roads lead to Winder? According to my mapper on my phone they do. I returned to Covington about 5:30. I don't know how.
Gas was scarce in Hiawassee. Regular only, no premium and some stations had a limit on the amount one can purchase. I didn't find premium until I was close to Cleveland on the return trip.
Photos? That means stopping and I don't do that. I did get a photo from the top of Bell Mountain, but it was taken by a young teen girl. It is not a good pic but what the hey I am posting it.
On the way back a bug got inside my sunglass goggles that I wear as I keep my visor open on my helmet for ventilation. The thing was crawling on the inside of my lens and every once in a while my eyes would start to follow it and I would get all goofy and have to refocus on the ride. I decided to see how long I could last with it crawling around in there, cause you know, letting the bug out means stopping and I don't do that. An hour. I lasted and hour. Crikey that was goofy.
So all in all it was a good day and a good ride. The old Guzzilla did ok. I ran it up to 80 a couple of times but it prefers 65 and below. It is a bit geriatric. The curvy roads were mucho fun. Miles were just under 300.

I used to hang a camera around my neck, and use a GoPro back in the day when I rarely stopped.
I started doing that when I realized I have zero photos of some of the bikes I have owned.

That is a nice picture, the young girl knew enough to put the bike to one side rather than right in the middle like most of us would do.

Vagrant and I were just up there about a week ago.
Yesterday we road to Franklin NC to eat at a gas station.
It is actually a good restaurant, in the side of a gas station. Burned through a tank of gas, and on the V85 that is over 250 miles.

Hard to fathom there are still so many stations out of gas at this date. Still no premium or mid-grade at most stations in the Dunlap area. Odd. You'd think they'd run out of regular first, since that's what most people buy. I guess they just refine so much more of that than the higher grades.
