V85tt Travel accessories
« on: April 01, 2022, 07:06:36 PM »
Looking at getting a 2022 V85tt Travel.  For accessories to start with I’m thinking pigtail for battery tender, engine guards, and center stand.  Will wait to see about upgrading the seat.  Any recommendations?

Certainly the centre stand, necessary for home maintenance.

I added the center stand, engine guards and the top case.  I then added a Puig windshield extension and an inexpensive TPMS set up.  The engine guards are worth it if you end up sideways out in the boonies.

Center stand and engine guards are the first ones you’ll need.  You might want to have the dealer install the stand - the springs are a pretty tough install.  Best tank bags seem to be the ones made by Giant Loop.  The Aprilia front fender is also a popular add on - get it from MG Cycle.

And consider getting some heated grips from Oxford or such.
When I had one, I thought the seat was pretty comfortable as is, but everyone is different.
The center stand was nice to have.  The springs were a pain!

You guy’s or bait me!  You guy’s know I don’t think a center stand is worth the money.  You say servicing the bike it’s easier to chang oil on side stand.  May be a little pain to get shield off( leave all screws lose until you have them all started when reinstalling).  It’s easer  to get to plate the covers over the oil filter when on side stand.  In old chain days center stand was good when  oiling chain or have the bike to fall over when on soft dirty or asphalt got hot.  I have seen guy lean forward while sitting on bike, put in gear and really turn it up and then lean back( after a few beers) that was alway fun to watch.  Now the engine guard is good( for guy that’s dropped the bike a lot).Rudy

Actually the main reason I want a center stand is because garage space is tight.  I have a 2021 Goldwing tour and a zpro trailer.  Now I’m adding the V85tt tour and all that has to fit next to my wife’s car in our 2 car garage.  The center stand will help a little. I think the tour comes with heated grips so won’t need to add those.

Id see if you can negotiate any of them at time of purchase or at least dealer cost plus they put them on for you. Good luck!

Actually it looks like the travel comes with center stand so engine guards are about the only added expense I’ll have until I decide on a seat.

Nope, the Travel has the heated grips but the center stand is an additional item. I got mine in November and so far I am loving it.
My dealer installed the center stand free, as well as the engine guards. (I did pay for the items though.)

I started with the center stand and crash bars installed by the dealer. I then added an inner front fender, driving lights and a tank bag. Since I off road a bit I took the rubber inserts out of the foot pegs and added a toothy brake pedal.

The seat is a personal preference - I decided on a comfort-low OEM w/ a sheepskin. The windshield is another item to fine tune. Though I'm 5-11 I have a long, 6-2 torso so the stock screen created buffeting. Cut the OEM to be more of a fly screen and bought a tall CalSci for colder months.

Last bit of kit was the headlight protector and aftermarket horns.

Hello; I just purchased a 2022 V
85TT Travel and it comes with the center stand, heated grips, high windscreen, tire pressure monitoring system, MIA / GPS, travel luggage; I also added crash bars, axle sliders, fog lights; installed SW Motech crashbars; although I had a drop and I wish I had gotten Givi crashbars; they offer more protection; because sadly I scratched my tank!
