Anybody running a 1970's era two-stroke using pre-mix?? If so what oil are U using at what gas/oil ratio? Oils are better, times have changed (a lot) since I last used a quart to 5 gallons in my Maicos. Guzzi content, it's for use in my 197? 125 Tuttenterro sp?

In my 2-stokes, I now only use Motul 710 2T
I'd stick to the same mixture ratio the bike was designed for, but in reality, you could maybe drop it a a half or full percentage being fully synthetic. If it was 4%, then maybe 3% or 3.5%, but do at your own risk. This oil smells great,
so let it smoke!

If it was origionally using 20-1 then it can use high quality oil at 50-1 BUT, only if it had good bearings, seals and materials when desigined. Some cheaper engines had such poor bearings and leaky seals that they had to be at 20-1 to avoid air leaks and seizures.

I'd be curious to read any authoritative documentation regarding the reduction of oil usage that anyone can provide. It goes against all the two stroke tuning information I've read, but that is admittedly getting somewhat dated at this point.
The thinnest fuel/oil mixture I'd consider running based on my research would be 32:1. I've been using that mixture for years now on just about everything, and I probably own and support more two stroke stuff than most.

Well I ran my 2013 Beta 300 trials bike at 80:1 for about 7 years without problem. Of course it does not get much above idle. Always tun Bel-Rey MC1.
A bit OT - but after seeing the tear down of a DR650 with around 60K miles on it I now add so Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant to the gas in all my 4 stroke vehicles.

Klotz techniplate in Banshee and RZ 350 mixed at 40:1. I even use the same mix for an old weed eater, and everything runs real crisp. I have never had an oil related failure running Klotz at 40:1. I have used it since the mid 70's.

32:1 in my Metralla with whatever 2 stroke oil is handy.
When I had one in '73 I'd run 20:1 if I had to use 4 stroke oil.
My 2 stroke Saab got 20:1 or so of whatever I had, including gear oil.
I'm sure quantity is more important than the fancy oil. I'm also sure that the more oil the more power you'll get.

Oil mixtures ratios go hand in hand with jetting, so I wouldn't jump too far off from the recommended if all stock. When you get into kitting where other parts get upgraded as well (chrome vs iron sleeves, rod roller bearings vs bushing), then oil demand changes, but CC and compression are also likely increasing if you are kitting. so back to higher oil content likely. Good kits usually have a recommended oil ratio.

FWIW: My '60's Evinrude called for 1Qt of motor oil per 6 gallons of gas. When I started using a 2 stroke oil, I was still using the 1Qt. Then I re-read the bottle and asked a repair shop. I then started using 1/2Qt per 6 gallons. At least in my outboard, with the new oils you don't need as much.

my 57 10 HP Evinrude, 58 20 Johnson, and my 76 85 hp Johnson all get Evinrude 2 stork oil 1pint to 6 gallons... 50/1 ration
the same ratio and oil thru my Husqvarna weed eater and my chain saw.
The last 2 stroke bike, it had oil injection and just added oil as needed. Don't remember what brand, probably just any old 2 stroke oil.
