43 mpg

Just got back from little ride in mountain, hot 97 deg. Oark ar, had ice cream & Apple pie, and point north. But the best gas mileage I’ve been able to get 43 mpg since I got back from my trip to stugis sd. from 5k to 59k rpm across sd. And that from around town to freeway. Before I went I was getting 48 to 52 mpg. God I hope I didn’t wind her( horse talk) somethings not right.Rudy

Check your air cleaner, it's only variable besides fuel filter. But was bike tuned up in between? Indication maybe needs plugs, all 4 if a CARC.

Forget what the display says. Check it the old fashioned way. Mine suddnly dropped 8-10 MPG from a very accurate reading. It's the display on mine. Says 46 when getting 55 now. Started about 12,000 miles in.

I got a v85 traveler. I will start checking gal. Per mile. But the trouble is it’s hard to know when you get a full tank, it keeps kicking the fuel pump off. It’s hard to get the last 1/2 gal or so in.Rudy

I always fill up on the kickstand not the centerstand. I fill the bike up till I can see the gas at the top.
I always check the mileage using the division technique. Divide miles ridden by gallons used.
Early on I checked the odometer with the 5 miles along the highway. Pretty close.
This way I can know if something is not working... I use this on my cars as well.

Rudy: When topping the tank, shake the bike a few times as you're pumping gas to slosh the fuel around, move bubbles to the top where they can exit the filler neck. As mentioned above, always check fuel mileage the old-fashioned way. Gallons used divided into miles traveled, using a calculator or pencil. I keep a small spiral notebook and record all fuel and maintenance data. My '04 Breva 750 consistently gets 57 mpg, cruised around 4K/60 mph.

On my last Road Trip,
(732 miles round trip to Datil, NM)
, I averaged about
42 MPG
on a
23-year old Guzzi Centauro GT
, all packed up for bike camping, cruising at 70-75mph.

On our (sensible) ride home from the Wiscaaahsin rally
The Kid and I both got 61 mpg on his beater Eldo and the Aero Lario. We had previously been getting around 50 doing a little hooning..
carbs for the win.

No substitute for more cc, when load & speed when figuring mpg. Another note, ride interstate 90 to Stugis from Sioux fall sd. during rally (346 miles) had a red kennworth pass me at 95 mph +. A lot of cars & trucks run 100 mph on that road.Rudy

Well I counted miles & gal. I got 48 mpg. the computer on v85 showed 34 mpg.75 mph average to okla. city. Got my new y pipe, low seat & center stand. Someone said that the cat muffler didn’t put off to much heat on a 2021. it dose, if you ware shorts when you ride it. But riding back was lot cooler with just the new y pipe and a little louder. Yes...and I discovered, three fuel petcocks later, that it destroys petcock SEALS as well!
