V7 III side covers

Do the aluminum covers make for a narrower bike, in terms of where legs go when feet are on the ground, than the plastic ones on the Stone and Special?

My V7 III Milano has brushed aluminium side covers.

I have ridden a V7 III Stone which has plastic side covers. I don't know if the Stone covers are the same as the Special's side covers.

I don't think the alloy side covers make much difference, if any, to the width of the bike.

When I first got the bike I kept bumping my feet into the foot rests when "paddling" the bike backwards into parking spots, but I got used to them and I don't notice them any more.

Yes, absolutely.  First thing I did when I bought my V7 II.  The plastic side plates are puffy enough that they cause your legs to bow rather than reach straight to the ground.  Taller folks might not notice, but us shorter folks definitely do.

Thanks, this is helpful. I prefer the look of the plastic covers, but I'm 5'6" and can only just barely get my feet to the ground with the stock suspension, and I have some shocks on order from GTM that'll probably make this a bit more of a reach. New front springs have already made a difference in that respect.
