Another beetle fan
« on: August 13, 2021, 08:13:41 PM »
I’ve been riding for 50+years and have spent more money than I care to think about. I have a very long list of things that weren’t worth what they cost, didn’t fit right or do what  they were supposed to. I also have a very short list of money well spent with only a few things that I can think of.     I just rode my Norge about 300 miles today after doing the beetle map thing and I have to say it’s right up there on top of list. This is my first Guzzi and I’ve had it for a little over a year. Didn’t really have any thing to compare it since I’ve never ridden one and just assumed that’s just the way they all ran.     I can only imagine the amount of time that was involved in developing the remap and all I can say is if you’ve been hesitant to remap do it and you’ll have no regrets whatsoever. Best money ever spent! At least on a bike.

100% wholeheartedly agree!  My Norge (and Griso) were transformed from somewhat grumbly, and rough beasts into an almost turbine like tower of power.  Easily the best $100 ever spent on a motorcycle.

+1 for my 2018 Eldorado , I could hardly make it up my drive way with the standard map , let alone not shift like a newbie .
Much better now :)  . Peter

I've got an '03 Lemans and have done basic tuning with GuzziDiag but really don't know if I should try remapping.  IMO, the bike runs great but what do I know, I don't hotrod the thing.  The bike has stock air box, M4 mufflers & evap can is disconnected.  Thoughts?

When it comes to “retuning” I’m in the “don’t try to fix something that’s not broke”, corner.
However if there is an issue, like stumbling or backfire issues tuning can definitely be a fix.

For those of you that have uploaded Beetle maps, do you find the idle on cold start up is a bit low and slow vs the stock map and takes a minute or so to get back to a normal sounding idle?

I noticed this on my 2014 V7. I then uploaded the factory map and the startup idle went back to , what I consider, normal. Uploaded the Beetle map again and it's back to a slow lumpy idle until it warms up.

I did, notice that the bike seems to run much better overall vs the stock map with less popping out the exhaust.

So you pay good money for a new or newer bike and it runs like crap because the manufacturer didn't care or they couldn't  get it right and stay within mandated emission standards?
Is this common with other makes of bikes? Do remapped bike still pass required emissions?

As far as fi cable throttle bikes I’ve owned 2 st1300,2bmw 1200, a c14 Kawasaki  a fjr1300 1800 gold wing 1600 nomad the only one I can say if memory serves right that had no problems was the gw. Fjr was the worst, nomad pinged all the time under load haven’t been fortunate enough to own drive by wire yet, I’ve heard they’re are better. I think shaft drive makes small issues a lot more noticeable than chain or belt. Remapping is the new way of doing things where in the good old days people we’re always rejecting carbs and fooling around with timing it’s all just part of the game
