Road Trip!
« on: August 26, 2021, 07:51:04 AM »
I’m rolling out in a few minutes, headed to NJ. Today I’m riding to Burnsville NC, north of Asheville. Anyone want to meet up for supper or breakfast just drop me pm. I’ll be checking in throughout the day as I stop for fuel, etc. I’ll also post some pics.
Hopefully this trip goes better than last year, when my Victory ate its own rear end! If not I’ll just rent a truck and carry the Quota along!
Today I’m heading up SR400 to Helen, then going up over Trey mountain to Hiawassee, then rolling 64 most of the way to Asheville, then onwards to Burnsville. If you see a beat up Champaign and Blue Quota, wave!

Be careful getting around Dc, Baltimore and Philly. It’s a mess, always has been.

Alternative to Rt.95, is RT. 81 or 15 north, then find some backroads heading east.

What part of NJ are you aiming for?

Stopped for lunch at a Mexican restaurant in Helen GA, an alpine tourist trap! I might have to buy a lotto ticket, I made thru Atlanta without any stop and go traffic! Even at the merge onto 75/85 from I-20! First time for that! Quota is running great, got 40 mpg on the first 100 miles, which is a personal best too!

Tomorrow I’m planning on riding I-26 to I-81. I’ve got friends in Shoemakersville PA that I might visit. Otherwise I’ll spend Friday night around Carlisle PA and take the Turnpike Sat morning. Im headed to crapivehadabrainfar tandcantremember NJ.
Im kinda playing the trip up there loose and flexible as far as plans go.

Made it to Burnsville NC. Staying at a unbelievably biker friendly place. I’m going to make a separate post for it. Rolling to PA via 81 tomorrow.
Pics from today.

The old school roadside motel. Just like stepping back to the days I’ve only heard old curmudgeons talk about!

If you see a Lady Godiva on horseback up there, she belongs to Dilliw.  :boozing:

I'm confused. You were talking about NJ, then the ferry to Okracoke.

I assume the Cape May/Lewes ferry.  Make a reservation on line, it’s crazy busy this time of year.  So you’re going north only to head south?

Thanks guys. And yes, taking the cape May - Lewes ferry and heading south to okracoke island. Then home Monday. Yup, going north to head south. Saturday afternoon a fantasy football league I belong to has a live, in person draft. It’s in NJ. Now, I’m NOT into fantasy football that much. However, it gives me and my riding buddy an annual motorcycle road trip! THAT I’m into! Lol.

So I just got back in. Friday I did over 500 miles to PA. Had breakfast with an one of my best friends. Had a blast catching up with him and his family. Then I rode down to Sicklerville NJ, and had my live, in person fantasy football draft. Sunday we left out and went to breakfast in Dover DE, with the family of one of my riding buddies. The pic is after breakfast in DE on the way to Ocracoke Island NC.

This is our bikes waiting on the ferry to go from Hatteras to the island.

Here we are on the ferry at last!

I’m the hefty dude on the left as you’re looking at the pic. Yes as soon as Labor Day is over I’m embarking on a weight loss journey!

That’s it for pictures! Today we hit the deck rolling and did over 600 miles in roughly 12 hours. All told I put over 2,000 miles on the Quota in the past five days. I’m super proud of my Guzzi! No problems, ran like a top, and was the fastest of the pack. Even the 1900 Raider couldn’t lose me! (Unless it was a top gear roll on!) The main thing I came away with? Ride your Guzzi’s folks! They’ll appreciate it!

Not to change the subject, but my wife has tried many of the popular weight loss programs with no lasting results. She is doing Noom and it is working for her. Not a rapid program but steady results over time. A common sense method. Just saying.

My mom has done the same. She recommends it too. I’ll look into it. Thanks!
