Ran through a stop sign test riding one of those in the early '90s.  Just couldn't get used to right hand shift.  LOL

Right hand shift woulda been a disaster for me.

I couldn't get used to the 1 up, 4 down on my Eldo so I swapped things around.

I live very close to where this bike is located.  Beach Haven is on Long Beach Island (LBI).  The island is 18 miles long, and narrow.  Atlantic Ocean to the east, Barnegat bay to the west.  If this bike sat for a long time in the damp salt air it’s not good.  Doesn’t matter if it was covered and inside.  Probably still has original chrome cylinders.  The fact that he ran it on starter fluid likely resulted in large pieces of chrome circulating through the engine.  Probably did some damage, so figure on a total rebuild.  IMO, at $2,500 it’s already WAY over priced.

I lived in Manasquan for a few years. Can confirm. There must be a rust problem unless it's been a specialty garage.

Not familiar with many Virgin unmolested examples of this bike, but shouldn’t the white pin stripping be around the chrome inset on both sides of the tank, and shouldn’t the pinstripes also be on the back fender? Is it stock to have the grey side cover ( toolbox cover?) on one side but a nice blue cover on the other side with the pinstripe.

I like the bike, on pictures it looks to be in great shape and might be a fun project, but the comments from the earlier members who lived in that region explaining the potential rust issues makes me say no. But I would like to see what it goes for and somehow learn what it takes to restore it to good running condition.
