Guzzi Takes First
« on: October 03, 2021, 01:37:58 PM »
I attended the ABATE sponsored Biker's Ball rally in Neodesha, KS, this weekend. Great event at an amazing venue, Dry Creek Saloon. If any of you are in the area on a Friday or Saturday, I recommend checking it out. Old West themed saloon with amazing food.

Anyways, the owner talked me into entering Old Girl in the metric division of the bike show, and she took first place. Of course, she was a bit of a shoe in, with the competition being a few Shadows, a Boulevard, and a VMax haha. Apparently, only one of the three judges even knew what she was. I hear that the conversation went like this:

Judge 1: What...is that?
Judge 2: I don't think it's a BMW
Judge 3: It's a Guzzi, and not one that you see very often.

Good thing you didn't show up with a HD 350 or their MX 250.

There was also an old guy there who swore up and down that his first large bike was an old Guzzi with horizontal cylinders. No matter how much I tried, I could not convince him that he, in fact, had a BMW lol.

I recently had a guy approach me in a parking lot and say “Nice Moto-Kazoo”.  It’s a Moto GUZZI.  “Right, who makes a Moto Kazoo”?

Guess i should have entered the T-3 so it would have been a bit more of a level field.  :thumb:

Haha, they'd have loved it. With nothing else but the usual mix of Harleys and Hondas for people to check out, the Eldo was the belle of the ball, all day and night.

Well done! I was at one of those once and they gave best sport bike to a 1200GS. The confused owner walked over to a fellow on an Augusta 750 and handed it to him. :afro:

I am always a bit amazed at how many "motorcycle enthusiasts" are unaware of Moto Guzzi .

 Dusty

I'm not.

I've been around that crowd long enough to know that most of them only know two bike manufacturers,  HD and Indian.
Don't get me wrong,  I was an ABATE member for years, and even a board member, but there are a lot of uneducated motorcyclists among the members.
