Ads popping up on my monitor

Did I miss something, or am I the only one getting pop up ads above and below the thread list? Ebay and other assorted garbage.  I hate pop ups  and do have a rather tight IT system here at the house that should be blocking them.  Did something change on the WG site, or is it a fault in my system??

I get a couple of ads on my page. It was explained that they should be limited to just a couple and that it pays the bills. I believe this is a beat to death horse and you're going to be sorry you asked.

Whenever something weird acts up here, I run a MalwareBytes scan.

MalwareBytes is excellent at finding bad stuff. I just use the free version.

Clearing your browser cache might help.
Try a different browser.

Other than that, your ad blocker might have crashed, and hopefully a reboot will fix the problem.

I wasn't sure if Luap had been forced to submit to running ads to keep WG alive or if my system had a problem.

Sadly I'll not make any rallies this year.  I just arrived home to wait while JBS loads my wagon for my run to Greenville SC.  Hopefully it'll be done by 1300 tomorrow so I can drop at 0600 Saturday, reload and then turn and burn.

Hey I've been getting them too.  Some for collector coins.  And then I hear on the internet those coins will go from $30 to $10k based upon some magical political events. 

What could go wrong?   

Truck, c'mon to Talimena, even more BS to yack about.  But I got no collector coins.   

Also sorry to say, I'm only bringing cheap Scotch, cheap cigars and PBR    to the rally.  But it's tasty cheap scotch and cheap cigars and PBR.  (I'm on a fixed income  )

Nothing wrong with cheap scotch, cheap cigars, and cheap wimmen. I wish I was on a fixed income.  My income is all busted the hell up!!!

Nothing has changed. All anyone should see are two ads per page. Ads help. A lot. Without ads, the site would have went away years ago.

Update.  I'm seeing ads on my mobile.  Damn.  Perhaps there's a n Adblock Plus for my Android mobile.

Started up on my laptop over the last week or so, up to then I was getting nothing.
I can put up with the odd advert, but this site has gone ridiculous, they're even in between lines of writing in posts.

As Stevex noted above. Opened this thread from the home page. There were 2 ads. But in this thread there are 5...1 on trusted Russian dating sites...couple on diabetes...couple on wrist watches...more often then not I get the same issue as Stevex noted...ads breaking up actual posts and a barrage of dying liver ads as of late. Using an IPhone 6+ with latest updates. Haven’t used the laptop lately so don’t know if it’s going on there.

It's like streaming services that interrupt every 5 minutes of content with 5 minutes of ad. People just move on to something less irritating and the greedy actually lose revenue.

If you are getting more than 2 ads per page on this site, your computer is infected with spyware, adware, rootkits or something, plain and simple. You should get it checked out. You should NEVER see more than 2 ads per page here.

And I'll say it again. If you're blocking ads, you're helping the demise of the site. Because we NEVER meet the donation goals without the ad revenue. Without it, I'd have shut this thing down years ago. For example, we're still $357 short for the year and we usually meet our goal by August/September. If it weren't for ad revenue, we'd be almost $1000 short. So, those whopping $2 per day in ads really do help. And all revenue after the donation goal is met goes into other things related to the site.

I think I may have posted my thoughs before but cant seem to find the old message.

I fully support LUAP running adds, keeps the place afloat and pays the bills.

One imporvment I have seen work well on some other forums is for Contributors to get an Add free experience - may be that its a $20 donation per year or something. This would motivate more donations, and also i'm thinking that a $20 donation would be more than one user would generate in add revenue?

For me its the adds that pop up in the middle of posts, or as a full page that I have to close out that annoy the most

Either way its an annoyance that i'm happy to live with
