No such thing as a hero, I suppose.  I admire lots of folks.  These spring to mind:

T.E. Lawrence.  Enthusiastic motorcyclist.  Told the King to stuff his honors. 
Dolly Parton.  Don't like her music but her heart is in the right place.  Sends books to kids.
Mother Jones.  Kicked ass and took names.  Represented the real Greatest Generation.
