Leaving My Dog Alone with a Juicy Steak

From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉 Hawaii.

Better trained that some of the dogs I've had. I caught Maimie (in doggie heaven now) running for the doggie door with a pan full of dinner rolls one time. She cleared the 4 steps to the yard in a single bound, by the time I got out and yelled at her she was 1/2 way across the yard and dropped her ill gotten booty. We had the rolls with dinner anyway  :thumb:

Hi All,                                                                                  2-11-22

Our 8 lb. Fox Terrier is ever vigilant.  Anything that is unguarded and fewer than three feet from the floor is officially hers.  We have learned that lesson all too well.  SSoooo, we make sure that we leave nothing within her 'range'.  Humans are so much easier to train than dogs.

Be well, stay well,

A possum playing possum is no big deal.  Find one that can play giraffe, now you got yourself something!

It may seem a little unfair but type of obedience and control is necessary.
At least for some dogs.

Max responded to training better than all the dogs I've had. It's taken some time, but worth every minute

He'll sit around like this a Lowe's for an hour if I asked him to. He likes to watch shoppers go by  :thumb:

Yep, it’s a fact that a well trained obedient dog is a happy dog. 👍

We had a lab who amongst his more famous feats did The following over his 13-year life.
1. Pulled a huge tray of lasagna out of the oven while cooking and licked the pan clean.
2. Pulled a turkey out of the oven while we were at church and ate everything except one leg bone.
3. While my wife's back was turned somehow took a big leg of lamb off the counter and went to a quiet corner in the house where he quietly demolished everything bone rapper and all. She thought she forgot it at the store came back and was angry because the store said that they put it in the bag. It wasn't until a couple days later on his"walk" that we discovered what happened to it.

He was a great dog but completely unplug disciplined when it came to food. My German Shepherd on the other hand was always obedient and extremely well-trained never had to worry about that with her.

Now I have to dig out a picture of my red lab Scout. Best dog ever.  Lived to 15 years and 9 months. I miss her.

Ahhh..when in our early twenties, my wife volunteered us to help a couple paint their old barn in Concord Mass.  We brought our 200 lb male St. Bernard along as their yard was large and for the bordered a swamp, we felt it was safe to leave him off leash.  Lunch time the "Men" hoped into his (not mine alas,) Porche 911 and sped into town for piazza. Upon returning we took the two large pizzas and set them on the stone wall.  As our wives approached from the barn, a blurr from the swamp announced our Saint " running " full tilt, shaking mud etc. from his head.  Without breaking his pace he tilted his head and grabbed the nearest pizza and ran a few more yard up the drive.  Stopped, finished it off and looked at the 4 of us standing stunned 3 yards back.  Well, before any of us could move, he shook his drooling and still muddy head and ran back for the second pizza.    We humans stood in shock, dissovling into laughter.   All was not lost as I got a second even faster ride through the twisty back roads in the Porche.

Now that was a good story and totally confirmed the “ obedience“ theory 🤔😂

My dog (Jack Russell) would no way leave that alone, in fact he'd be on it whilst I was eating if he could get close.

When I was a kid we had a Jack Russell who was more sneaky and would regularly take things whilst not being watched. I remember him coming home from visiting the neighbours house once with their Sunday Beef joint, the whole joint, he could barely carry it as it was nearly as big as him. He must have sneaked in whilst they weren't watching and stolen it from where it was resting?

I don't think they ever knew where it went as we never heard anything from them and my Parents were too embarrassed to say anything about it to them plus, I doubt they'd want it back after a Dog had dragged it through the garden - he ate well that week...
