Hola all, from So Cal, where  it's a balmy 71F and sunny today.

Pre-pandemic, I had a nice collection of Levi 505 40" waist 32" inseam jeans - about a dozen pair. The Levi 505 collection is a stretchy denim blend.

As I put on "the ***** twenty", these became less and less functional. I subbed in some running pants from my brief stint as a runner, and added some other "active wear" as opportunity permitted, but it's time to get real.

In the olden days, I would go down to the store and seek professional assistance, but that's not a real option at this time.

I have pondered adding some gussets to the Levi collection to extend their mileage, but again, that would be a stopgap at best.

Who among us is wearing what make and model these days? I'm hoping to hear from you fellows about both zipper/button jeans AND drawstring pants. Elastic waistband influences are not out of the question either.

Chagrined that it comes to this, but it has. My wife said "Maybe they'll also tell you how they lost weight too". She's so helpful ...

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Wrangler makes nice cargo pants with 1% spandex for stretch and the rest is light cotton. Just $20 a pair at Wal Mart. I like them for everyday use. Comfortable and sized well and look nicer than jeans too.
yeah, I might be addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop any time I want.

After wearing Duluth Firehose I’ll never buy another pair or jeans, especially Wrangler which are not true to size given for waist, always smaller.

About 10 years ago, Levis went from 7 belt loops to 5 on waist sizes below 38.  That's when I switched to Wranglers, which still have 7 loops in my size.  No reason to think about switching back to Levis until they change their policy.

Sounds like a good reason to drop weight, which also reduces your risk of complications from every weight related illness.

That is the plan I am following in 2022.  I hate buying clothes that don't have motorcycle branding on them.

When I was heavier, wearing jeans up to 44 x 30, I liked the fit and durability of the dickies painters jeans. I hate tight fitting pants, and those had  straight, ample leg openings. Dickies makes decent quality light duty work clothes, that work for me. I also have had a couple of very nice Carhartt jeans, that fit well, and come in big sizes.

That's the truth-  those Duluth pants are indestructible.   And heavy.  And generally too baggy in the legs for anything except outdoor work.  But I do like them and they are great for motorcycling because they are loose in the crotch (I'm not bragging...).

All I wear mesh athletics with a pair of chef pants over them if the temperature is below 38. No jean. No other kinds of pants. No other kinds of shorts.

JRT, note on the baggy point.
They have the “regular fit” and they are loose fitting. However they also have a “slim fit” which fits much more your more dressy cargo pants. Go try on a pair👍

Nothing but Round House blue denim for me. I have a pair of Round House strips for when I need to go visit my banker or attorney. Undue the side button in the summer for air conditioning.

A number of years ago I was at the gas station on my Guzzi and man it was hot. I'm wearing a ratty pair of bibs, t-shirt wet and I look like death. This older gal on the next pump jokingly asked me what gang I belonged to. I told her the pitchfork gang. She laughed.

I used to wear Dickies or similar but about 4 years ago I tried pants from https://offthegridsurplus.com/ and they have almost completely replaced "jeans" for me.  A lot more comfortable, better looking, LOTS of pockets (in more useful places), etc.  Mine are holding up great, allow better movement, breathe better.  They do make them in a denim material too but I haven't tried those yet.
I love using the side thigh pocket for my phone, and having a pocket on the side (basically between the front and back pockets) means I no longer sit on my wallet which adds comfort.

Wrangler 47s; that's the cut for old men. The cheap Walmart Wranglers
regular cut fit me well too and last longer than most.

I noticed that they do now.  However...I bought my pants many years ago- before any newfangled slim fit- and those old firehose pants just. won't. wear. out.
I bet the slim ones would fit better and I'll buy a pair in ten or fifteen years!
Cheers,
