93 Daytona & 97 Sport for Sale
« on: February 19, 2022, 09:51:02 AM »
I almost pulled the trigger on the 93 Daytona yesterday, but that bike being located in Vancouver BC is a little too far & a little to costly for me to import when looking at all expenses. This bike is listed for sale on FB and CL out of Vancouver BC.

This Daytona has 9.5k kilometers on the clock. The current 2nd owner is asking $12k Canadian, or around US $9.5k

This bike had lot's of upgrades done to it by its first owner. The instrument cluster was changed with some upgrades, this bike has the nice carbon Staintune exhaust, the rectangular headlight was upgraded to a carbon fiber trapezoid fairing, and the seat section was also modified to a carbon section. The wheels installed are Damage magnesium, gray iron brake rotors, Raceco chip, and a couple of other modifications.

Bike was serviced by current owner and received all new fluids, rebuild forks, new timing belt with tensioner, oil pump fix, new battery, new hoses, gaskets........., but it needs new tires due to age.

To me, the high cost carbon upgrades take away from the looks of this bike, especially with the fuel tank still in its factory brown color. However, I'm looking at this bike only via the online pictures, so the carbon and factory brown paint could look great together when seeing the bike in person. I like the clock and the oil pressure addition to the dash, but I think that the dash cluster from "DAS" out of Germany (back in the days) would had look better than the aluminum upgraded dash on this bike. It's also hard for me to tell, but something doesn't look right to me with the carbon to the left of the trapezoid headlight, but that is probably just the way the fairing was manufactured.

All in all, I think that this is a great bike, and if this bike were within the US with a US title, then I would probably be on my way by now to pick it up. However, I did import a Canadian 1100 Sport back into the US about two years ago, which was originally sold when new within the US before it was imported into Canada / Toronto back in 2012. I should had gotten me a Vermont registration ownership, then changed it into a NC title with plates in order to import this bike the easy way, but easy usually bites me in the ......, so I did it the correct way by filing the import documents with customs, asked for import approval my the border agency, hired a importer, waited three month for all approvals, needed to get the bike inspected here in the US my theft inspectors, and I then needed to wait another six month and lots more paperwork before I finally received my new NC title...... all this for a bike that started off its journey when new within the US........

This yellow 1997 is another nice bike currently for sale on FB out of Blue Ash, Ohio. This bike has logged 7.7k miles so far and it is fully serviced with new tires installed. Asking price is US $8,851.00

This bike looks great, and it is also ready to ride. The asking price, especially with the low miles, new tires, crossover, ..... is great too. It won't be long before the value / asking price of a nice "mostly stock" 1100 Sport with lower miles logged will rise above the $10k mark.

Well first you gotta decide do I want ANOTHER Sport or a Daytona

I think the tank will be black not brown (never seen one in brown) and the bike will look better in the flesh as the pictures are not too good & I can only look at the first 3
Agree the lay looks odd on the CF on the faring but I can't see the other side, so don't know, the fairing incoporates the trapezoid headlamp not available on the UK/US (and probably Canadian) bikes.
I do like the dash.

It's an early bike but not one of the first I'd guess, it has a remote reservoir shock, probably a WP, but still sports the horrid Cerriani front forks, Dymag wheels are lovely.

Raceco chip is probably A kit, simply for free-er flowing exahust and then he's cut the airbox tubes and installed pods.

Cans look fabulous too & the oil pump is fixed, what's not to like

9.5ks is not a lot of miles and IMHO it's a good price, you're not going to see another like it for sure

Certainly know which one of these 2 I'd be tempted to go for (but yellow bikes have never done much for me).

Good luck

All Daytona's were painted red, except for a handful of black editions for the UK market. My guess is the tank came off a 1100 sport i. ( 97 sporti blackish metallic brown my favorite color)

The vin # is ZGUKAAKA0PM300011, so I assume that this is one of the first 1993 Daytona's that came out of the factory.

This is a low milage bike. The speedometer shows 9559 kilometers, which are 5940miles.

And no, I'm not buying me another Sport, besides, I already have a nice yellow 97 :) I cut the herd by eight Sports during that last two years, so I'm down now to five riders and two project / parts bikes.

I saw and sat on that yellow sport yesterday.  It is everything they say it is.  It is moto art.  The yellow really pops in the sun.  If my old wrists could only take the position.

I would like either of those but I would have to be 20 years younger to be be able to ride one of those for longer than 10 minutes.

If it's a really early bike then the rear shock must have been replaced with an aftermarket model, I seem to remember the originals were supplied with a Koni shock and they were not remote reservoir.

Circa 6k miles is nothing, just think if the bike is everything that's claimed of it, it's a very fair price
