Looking for any insight/wisdom...13 Stevlio NTX with noticeable vibration.
The story behind the story..this is my 6th cycle...all 5 before were shaft drive Honda's (PC800, Valyrie Interstate, ST11/13, NT700V). Bought the Stelvio 10 hours away (in Ohio,, i live in MN)..basically drove over and bought it. Never rode a Stelvio (or any MG other than one short test ride on a 08 Norge) until that test ride on a cold February morning. Bike had 13,658 miles. Well cared for (Cadre Cycle). GPR exhaust and flashed ECU. I've put nearly 1500 miles so far on it this year. My only reference is to how a Honda shaft feels. Smooth under acceleration. Minimal shaft lash. My Stelvio is not like that. 3-4k noticeable vibrations. at 70 mph and 4k...even the handguard is buzzy. Touch the frame where the side cases are mounted...buzzy. Accelerate and it feels bit like lugging the motor. in last 500 miles have changed both the CARC oil and gearbox oils. Checked tire pressure--good. Feels like gravel for wheel bearings (well not that bad but not smooth).Touch the front rotors and cool to the touch. Rear rotor is slighly warm to the touch. At 70..pull the clutch in...smooth...even at 4k. Only other observations have been when coming to a stop..and then accelerating-- hear a noise (although very brief) like something is binding up and then it goes away. While didn't buy the bike for fuel economy..been driving it very responsibly on back roads averaging 62 mph. I have a 100 mile daily commute. Best mpg is 40. While not expecting Honda smooth...not seeing me long term if this buzziness/vibration is normal...can't go no more than 30 minutes and my hand falls asleep. The only other observation is i did suffer a DA moment..while completely stopped..moved the bike off the side stand and kept on going ....laid the bike down on the right hand side and broke the right hand guard. I So enjoy this bike...except the vibration...and the nearest dealer is about 2 hours away... i am very comfortable doing my own wrenching. Any insight truly appreciated.
