Congrats, Very sweet, the pinnacle of desirable vintage street bikes :thumb:

Curious to hear your feedback on riding it, compared to some of the hot rod guzzis you now have.

I've read a few times, that if you don't intend to purchase a Ducati, never take one for a ride, because once you do, there's no going back.

That is a beauty! I suspect it will be worth the hassle of selling the other bikes to acquire that 900SS. I also love the color scheme.

Beautiful bike Ben! Congrats!

Which three are you selling?

Off topic, I finished the outermost HOUSE. Great read, thanks for the tip.

Tom

Thanks Tom.  I’m selling my CX100, your SP and my 71 R75/5.  Your bike runs great.  I’ve put about 100 miles on it and it just needs a final carb adjust. I need to reread the book soon. It’s been too long.

Just curious- there was a group of quality Italian bikes posted via Vermont Craigslist a while back.  Some were linked here but I can't find the thread.  Seems like there was a bevel 900ss in that group.  Is this the same bike or is my memory not accurate?

Hi Cliffrod. .  I think I know the collection and owner you are remembering.  This bike is not part of that.  PM me if you want more information on the VT collection. Ben

Thanks, Ben.  I was just curious.  I'm trying to not add any bikes right now- already enough fish to fry, college stuff to afford, projects already here, etc...

No matter- I'm really  stoked to see you getting such a benchmark bike to add to your garage.

Re fuel tank and alcohol fuel, steel tanks started in ‘77, so it shouldn’t be an issue.  I have an ‘80 SS that I’ve had since about ‘93 and also a spare OEM tank that I bought way back when for $200   Steel tanks can rust… I can’t remember how I found and ordered it in those pre-internet days, but it came from the UK.

SSs are very nice bikes to ride, although totally unsuitable for riding around town or commuting… the faster you go the better they like it.  Mine had a Woods Motor Shop 2:1 exhaust when I got it, and from the photo it looks like this one may have something similar. I replaced it with stock, then replaced the stock front cylinder header pipe because it dragged even with 1/2 inch longer shocks.  The ‘hot setup’ used to be a more tucked in Hailwood header pipe,  so I got one of the last of those that was floating about, from Australia, and promptly dragged that one too  It’s still on there and the stock item is welded up, rechromed and safe in a box.

Despite all that I’ve never fallen off the thing, and don’t ride it much today.  It’s still in original paint. Whenever I do ride it I use it as designed then put it away, happy to have been reminded of what a great ‘on rails’ bike it is, and even happier that I didn’t break it.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I’ve enjoyed mine over the years.
