Questions about my new bike

So I just got my 1994 California “3” 1000/1100? Curtis says it’s a 1000 bike but it’s a 94 per title,vin and frame number.  The engine number does not match.  Anyone know by the engine number which it could be?     KC *011645* is stamped into block
Vin is ZGUKCAKC0RM....... anyway it’s a killer bike. I’m super stoked. Needs a few little things but great bones. Phf36 pumper carbs.

 For 1994 MY both a Cali 3 and  a Cali 1100 were offered .  Yours is a  Cali 3 > Visually both bikes are almost identical except for  the  949cc  Engine (Bore and stroke 88X78) which externally looks the same as the 1100.   On my 1100 the  engine number is  KC 011648 .
 Both the Cali3 and Cali  1100 used   Dellorto  PHF36's  (or EFI.)  Nice bike. Enjoy

Thank you. Our engines are almost sequential! I wonder does that KC mean 1100 series engine? I’d love someone with a let’s say 92-93 1000 engine to see what theirs is stamped

Might that be a big valve model? 949cc but just larger intake and exhaust..

K is a 1100, V is a 1000 prefix on motor.   93 was a New World motor, timing tensioner, deep spline clutch hub & no more retorque of heads they are 35ftlbs from factory.
I believe your motor is mid-valve head, 1100, came w/PHF36 .

Very interesting.  The plot thickens. I’m going to drop the pan and look what filter is on it. From what I know a Hi flo filter 551 is 1100 and 552 is 1000 engine. Let’s see what’s in there...

I just talked to a customer/friend and his 1000 Cali 3 93 model says VY prefix on motor

There ya go 1100 had a tall filter unless someone put the 1100 adapter in the pan. Deep sump would be a 1100.

Hi flo 551 filter is inside engine.  There is a sump spacer in place.. what do you take from that?   Good news =1100cc bad news this new oil change shows very very fine gold sparkles in pan. I mean SMALL. No chunks.  A light “haze”,very light brassy haze. Kinda concerning.  No noise. Update-Filtered old oil through paper towel into bucket and don’t see any specs of any kind
