Throttle linkages
« on: November 01, 2025, 10:29:52 AM »
Hello Folks.
My 2007 Norge stooped on the motorway, actually it didn't really stop. One of the plastic sockets on the rod which links the two fuel injectors , popped off, so it was idling, but only revving on one cylinder The TPS side popped off. On inspection the plastic socket was badly worn and had a hairline crack.
I bought a ball and socket from the local engineering supply, it was the same length, so I removed the old socket only moving the lock nut one flat, and replaced it with the new one, it popped straight on without moving the bell crank  and is fixed, great.
Now my question.
I synchronised the throttle bodies, I had to turn the "correct" screw about one turn to get them ok , I then checked the TPS reading using GuzziDiag, it was 3.5 degrees. I stopped there.
I had watched Mr Ropers informative video on how to sync the TB's, and how people had screwed them up many times by adjusting the sacred screw and also adjusting the link rod between the TB's. He said it can sometimes be saved if the TPS hasn't been reset?.
What to do?. My interpretation of Mr Ropers vid would be to adjust the rod until the TPS reads 4.5 to 4.7?. But the TPS isn't manually adjustable. Am I off the mark completely? Or should I reset the TPS?.
Any help gratefully received.
Alan.

What you read from Pete would be correct. Set rod end to 4.6 or whatever it said last you looked. You can send Pete a message over at the Griso Ghetto

You should message Pete !

Personally I don't think you should touch any sacred screws or adjust any TPS angle if you simply change/mend/adjust the connection joints....the factory set angle on the TBs has NOT changed, just the link length may have altered, and that means you just need to resynchronise them with a vacuum guage & reset the TPS in guzzidiag (it will reset to 4.6)

Hi folks,
Pete was very helpful, Here's what I did.
I sync'd the TB's, they were a long way out, and as I got close the bike started to stall. As I was adjusting the screw it was having more resistance and forcing the bell crank to alter the TPS position, so I put the adjuster back to where it was then turned the ball socket in 1 full turn, checked the sync, almost spot on with no adjustment, then checked the TPS, 4.5 degrees, then the idle sync, almost spot on. Took it for a short ride, it was slightly hesitant at times and stalled a couple of times, brought it back and checked the TPS again, down below 4 degrees, so. I did a TPS reset and it ran beautifully, I ran it for a while and the TPS always went back to 4.5 degrees. I then did the CO2 trim and set it from a base zero to plus two, all the clatter from the gearbox disappeared, result!.
I'll get out on it in the next couple of days to make sure all is well.
Thanks,
Alan.
