Weird "sugar cube" petcocks on my Convert

Hello Folks. The sugarcube petcocks on my convert are a little weird, in that with the little rod pointing straight up, they are "off" , with the selector pointing rearwards of horizontally is "ON" , and straight down is "reserve" . I went on a ride with my son today, and ran out of gas , in the "run" position, when I set them to reserve, no fuel would flow, even though there was about 1/2 to 1/4 gal. sloshing around the bottom of the tank. I have removed the petcocks, and cleaned the screens, and everything was clean, and I could blow air through them in reserve and run position, I dont know why the last remaining gas would not flow out. I drained two 12 oz  water bottles of gas from my sons bike, poured it in the convert, and  it started right up, and ran perfect to the nearest gas station.
 I am thinking my best solution would be to replace the sugarcubes with a more modern design of petcock, if something is available that fits the existing bungs, and works well.
 
Do you  folks have any suggestions as to which petcocks will work, and fit properly?

  I replaced the "Sugar Cubes" a long time ago with MG Cycle #17105460 ; 461. They also polish well. cost : $11.98 ea.

  Rick, while you're at it,{buying stuff} check all your rubber thingies on the bike. If you plan on keeping it for many years you may want to get extra straps, foot peg rubbers, and other things that may deteriorate over the years. I coat my rubber in "RU GLYDE" for the last 60 years. The original rubbers on my '73 sport are still as good as new.

Thats great advice, thank you. I will look for Ru-glyde. Isnt that used for tire mounting lube? The name rings a bell. As you say, I have found most of the rubber stuff in need of replacement on this bike. Fork wipers, all cables, grommets where the sidecovers attach, you name it. I am getting ready to put in another weekly order to MG cycle.

Yep that's the stuff. NAPA carries it.

That makes sense , Kiwi. Roy. Mine are on =6 0'clock  off is 12 o'clock, and reserve is 9 o' clock,  maybe caused by what hole the "stem" or tube is inserted it, I am thinking. but no matter what I set them to, there was a good bit of remnant fuel, probably about a liter, that would not drain out.
 I put in an order to MG cycle, for a bunch of little parts I needed, and included the two petcocks the guys above recommended.
