It's what many have been looking for as a replacement to the FXR. Funny that Harley-Davidson couldn't fill the niche that they created with the FXR and its delayed rise to popularity with club & hooligan bikes.

The power comes from a BRP Rotax V-Twin just like the other "recent" Buell models, it's a very impressive engine.

For those who are fans of Erik Buell's work, he wasn't involved in the making of the Super Cruiser as he's been working on his FUELL electric bicycle and motorcycle brand.

For those who are fans of Erik Buell's work, he wasn't involved in the making of the Super Cruiser as he's been working on his FUELL electric bicycle and motorcycle brand.

Not only was he not involved in the design of THAT bike, but none of the work that the new Buell company is or has worked on. The company’s CEO, Bill Melvin, was the CEO of the liquidation firm that Harley contracted to sell off assets of the Buell Motor Company after they dissolved it. That firm was also contracted to sell off assets of Erik Buell Racing after that (separate) company tanked a few years back, but Melvin decided to purchase the company, and then got ahold of the Buell trademark. I wonder if he accidentally calls his wife Erik on occasion.

“At the end of the day, it’s just a brand name…”, “…At one time it stood for innovation, but it was parked by H-D for 12 years. Time will tell what becomes of it next.”

Pretty sad they have to build a porky cruiser with that iconic name. Buell was once near the cutting edge in motorcycles.. I said near not on top. I had a Uly, it’s in my top 3 best bike I ever had.

The article estimates $20,000+ MSRP which would align with the estimated MSRP listed for other pre-order bikes on the Buell website using the same powerplant.
The target audience are people who want a high performance club style motorcycle, it's a large market for a younger demographic right now. $20k+ might sound like a lot, but many club or hooligan bike builds exceed that after sourcing a base Harley-Davidson and then replacing half the bike with aftermarket parts including an S&S engine. Being designed by Roland Sands will also help sell it, he was a good racer and became even more well known once he moved on to building custom bikes and designing fashionable race inspired motorcycle gear and accessories.

Erik did make the decision years ago to move the Buell line the Helicon Rotax engine, which he contributed significant performance improvements to while working at Buell Motorcycle Company and then Erik Buell Racing.

That’s the one that has my attention.

I almost bought a Uly back when they were new, but ended up on a C10 Concours.

Waiting to see the V100 Stelvio and this Buell. Will be interesting to see what actually materializes.

Just put in an advance deposit on the Super touring model. Haven't ruled out the Stelvio, but I'm excited to see a new American Brand and this will at least get me in line. Only drawback is the chain, but the rest just looks right.

The front brake lines look a bit cobby, but I’d fix that. Is it belt drive ?

From a Buell forum post in 2014:

"The (now out of production) Buell 1125R and the 1125CR had Engines built by Rotax. The design of the engine was a collaborative effort between the company previously known as "Buell" and Rotax. Buell engineers worked with Rotax engineers, and together they came up with the final design. But, most importantly, Buell retained exclusive rights and patents for the engine.

EBR (Erik Buell Racing), which is all the same people from Buell, is now building and selling the 1190RS and 1190RX. The engine is similar to the Rotax, with several key changes allowing it to make much more power. Also, now the engine is built, designed and assembled in the USA."

Where the 1190 is being built now is a good question. Maybe they're still using up old stock.
