Cycle boot a bit big on V7 III pegs
« on: May 18, 2023, 07:56:03 PM »
Took a 2019 V7III stone for a test ride and liked it (Im 6'2/34") The only thing I noticed while wearing MC boots is that my foot is a bit big for comfortable shifting and to some degree-braking

I know there is linkage that can be adjusted to add a bit more room. Has anyone else who's done this seen improvement?

Thx-

Dave

Adjusting the shift lever is the first thing I do with a  new bike.

I have the same issue with my V7 850.  I did not know that there was an adjustment.  I had switched over to another pair of boots that work a bit better but would prefer to use my MC boots.
I will look at the bike to see how to adjust.'

First thing you do is order a set of Knight Designs 1" lower pegs.........you will be way more comfortable. I am 6'1"/34". Downside is you will drag your pegs more often and you boots as well, and you will need to get a 1" or 1.25" lowering link made, or buy one, as you can't lower the brake that far. And yes, adjust the shifter down to where ever you want. I think Kingoffleece makes them but my company's model shop made mine for me.

Op sounds like he's talking about foot position/movement and not knee so I'm not sure this is the answer.

That said, enough I used Knight Design drop pegs and KOF toe peg brackets on my MkI because it had some cornering clearance to spare.

My MKIII doesn't (have clearance to spare), so in those I highly recommend a taller seat over lower pegs for the knee thing. Won't help the peg to toe peg to foot relationship though.

Hi Kev m, I respectfully disagree. The extra angle at the knees for a tall guy like the OP, causes his foot to also be at a more downward angle on the pegs. He may be able to adjust the brake down far enough so that it is comfortable for him, and certainly can do the shift linkage lower, or higher if that is what he needs. But while on the that subject, lowering the pegs will help his overall comfort and probably his boot position. JMO, as a guy with 34" inseam and the same bike. See you one of these days.

Oooohhhh yeah, good point. Hadn't thought of that.

Ok, then I will would suggest taller seat over drop pegs due to cornering clearance on this model, but point taken.

I agree with that! My worry was that brown seat cover I have on my v7III Special......I didn't want to change it. And I don't know if there is enough material to raise the seat foam a bit without changing the cover. Raising the seat is the best way.

Appreciate all the replies, oddly enough, coming from my current V85tt travel, i wasnt that cramped on the v7III, the prior owner added a comfort seat, mistral exhaust, bar risers and fairing so it was comfortable. I was able to scootch back on the seat.

Having had a prior Indian ftr1200s with lowered foot pegs, it was always a PITA as the brake and shift peg had to be extended (a lag bolt did the trick) but it was never quite right even after much fiddling.

I always thought at 6'2, Id be a bit tall on the V7 but much better than on my prior Triumph 790 from yrs past.

Ill see what develops!
