In search of pie…out riding the hills.

Too nice a day to pass up for a ride…out on the back roads in search of a nice lunch and maybe a piece of homemade berry pie, whatever happens to be on the menu today!!

...and of course, on the way to the annual August Guzzi Rally in Datil, NM, there is always mandatory stop for a big, fat, slice of pie and cup of coffee at the legendary.....PIE TOWN!!

More fun pics…wandered from The German settlements to the Czech area…along the way had some nice showers to cool down a bit, along with a brief stop at the river in La Grange to pay homage to that Little Ol Band from Texas (ZZ TOP)!!

Echo Lake Lodge on the way to Mt. Evans, CO, was always my go-to spot for the best homemade pie. Barbara was the best. But she passed away last year and the lodge has since been closed by the City & County of Denver. It’s a great loss.

If you're anywhere near Utopia, Texas (perhaps riding the Twisted Sister routes?) and you get an appetite for homemade pie, try the Lost Maple Cafe in Utopia.  You can also hear some tall Texas tales about how the movie "Seven Days in Utopia" was filmed there and the locals used as extras.....no connection with the cafe...just good, comfort food and real-life folks.

How does the City and County of Denver have the authority to shut this down? It is outside the county as far as I can tell. Has the city managed to annex all the way up there? I know it has tried every tactic in the book to annex everything it can.
