2007 California Vintage - map?
« on: June 12, 2023, 10:48:24 PM »
Hi all

I recently traded my 1997 Guzzi V10 Centauro (which I had fully recommissioned) for a really nice 6,000 original mile 2007 California Vintage.

The 2007 California Vintage has a rough idle, stalls at idle, but then runs reasonably well. I am going to strip the fuel injection bodies and run them through my ultrasonic, take the injectors to a pro cleaning place to be pulse cleaned in an ultrasonic injector cleaner, for a start. I will make sure there are no air leaks, that the injector bodies are synchronized (equalized) to each other and set the TPS. That sorted the Centauro's fueling, together with making sure valve clearances and ignition timing was spot on.

Browsing here, I found the long threads re the guzzidiag software and the "Beetle" maps. I have read all the threads, downloaded the guzzidiag software and related drivers and sourced the cables from LonTec.

What I don't know how to find is an uploadable map to improve on the stock mapping, if there is such a map. The bike has an aftermarket set of mufflers, otherwise it is bone stock. I am interested in dealing with idling, off idle response, and eliminating stalling. I read all about setting he TPS, adjusting the CO up or down at idle from the software, but I am at a loss as to where to find (and evaluate) any suitable aftermarket maps.

So, what maps, of any are available for the 2007 California Vintage? While I am asking, are there any maps for a 97 Centauro with a Marvic X pipe and gutted mufflers/ I traded bikes with a friend and still see the Centauro regularly.

Help? Thanks.

Dan in WI, a newbie here, but in the same boat. Recently acquired 2011 Cal w/15RC + Power Commander + Autotune. My 96 Cal got better mileage, idled smoother, and never backfired. The PC + AT are history. Have straight H x-over (no lambda) + glasspacks.

Calvin’s ran like crap from new.  Mine was a 2009, and it took me a lot of trial and error to get it right.  Finally a reflashed ECU from GuzziTech to work with the H-Pipe, open air box and stock mufflers was the ticket.  I sold it after 5 years and 20K miles, and it’s been running fine with the new owner ever since.  Getting rid of the closed loop and O2 sensors was the key.

Click on the Contact/Request Map link and tell him what you want.  He doesn't charge anything for maps for older 2V engines.

The map is a definite improvement over stock in my '07 CalVin. The engine is smoother with much better response below 4k. The long gearing makes more sense now. Mine is stock except for an H-pipe. However, it's still cold-blooded and needs the fast-idle lever when cold. I was able to improve the idle a bit by snugging up the throttle body intake hose clamps and doing a TB balance. The PO had recently given the TB's a good cleaning already.

Arrgh! I had tried this once before w/no response. Just dawned on me that SpamAssassin perhaps intervened. Tried different email - Bingo! Thanks tons for the help.
