Lemans footpegs
« on: July 17, 2023, 12:07:18 PM »
I’ve got a 73’ v7 sport. I’m currently running 850t foot controls but have a shifter for original (LH) footpeg setup.

I see lemans mk1 footpeg brackets for sake occasionally.

Looking at Guzziology the lemans footpeg brackets should be close to the v7 position.

However I’m wondering if I’d need lemans exhaust to properly mount mufflers to these brackets?

Thanks
Bill

In parts catalogs, all part numbers are different.  At a glance of the actual bikes, they’re quite different.

The V7 Sport mounts have through-bolts to mount to frame.  The Lemans/CX has a welded bracket to bolt to frame, so mount is above those same bolts.   Lemans/CX tubular mount has a fixture at the rear for exhaust vs the exhaust fixture underneath for shark gill mufflers on the solid V7 Sport.  The Lemans also has the heat shield mount for your foot.  The pegs are different.  V7 Sport are through-bolt while Lemans are knife & fork.

You could probably make a set work by adding a hanger underneath for the V7 Sport exhaust and leaving/removing other pieces on the Lemans mounts or making a custom bolt-on hanger to adapt V7 Sport exhaust to the Lemans rear exhaust mount.  If someone doesn’t already know about any finer dimensional differences and you need them, I’ll do some measuring for you to compare my V7 Sport to my CX100.  Let me know.

Pics for reference- V7 Sport is kind of packed in right now…

Hope this helps

You have a V7 Sport, left or right hand shift? If left hand, and memory serves me correctly, the left hand shift parts for a Sport, should be the same as a T. Exception being the two shifters have different part numbers, as I think the T lever is slightly longer than the Sport's. Why would you need 850 LeMans brackets at that rate? Sport parts and the LeMans parts are apples and oranges as Cliffrod notes. You'll need WAY more stuff, I think you'd even need "Tonti" lower frame rails. If you have a right shift Sport, you can pretty much make it a left shift by using T parts, there's a little fiddling, but not a big deal. I made a 750S look alike, out of a right side shift V7 Sport, basically using parts off a T. If you are already left side shift, you really should be done.

If you're trying to make a left shift from a right shift Sport, grab a parts book for a Sport, an S, and a T (thisoldtractor), sit down with a Blatz or two, and make a list. I cheated and used the T double slot camlever and brake rod. I had Joe Eish order the 750S right brake lever part number for me. Moto America sent him one (it was like $12), and he asked me what it was. Turns out MA had a box full of them, but didn't know what they fit. Shelby Kinnard told me they were probably left over from when Berliner was converting imported V7 Sports before Guzzi started shipping them all as left shift. I turned someone else on to that part number years back, but then Guzzi wanted $119 for it. As an aside, I used a 750S parts book, but you can find all the variations of the V7 Sport on Teo Lamer's site in the Netherlands, on their parts book section. Don't recall seeing that anywhere else.

Patience, absolutely. Guzzi play requires oodles of it.
