2003 Cali Hydro Pushrods
« on: July 19, 2023, 03:57:40 PM »
I'm putting a 2003 Hydro back together and find I'm missing a pushrod. I only saw the 'normal' ones for sale on MG Cycle for $62. Holy Cow!!!

What's the difference between the Hydro and the normal ones? I'm guessing length.

If the hydros are shorter than the normal ones, what's involved reducing a pushrod's length? It seems do-able to me - simple work on the lathe. The hydro pushrod measures slightly shorter than 8.25" - equates to about 210mm.

Mark @ Moto Guzzi Classics may be parting out a Hydro engine, you might want to check with him. 562-986-0070

TLM has one on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142593745298

The difference seems to be the Hydro one has "sockets" on both ends vs. socket on one and ball on the other. Likely a length difference as well.

Ouch!

Ninety bucks for one pushrod! That's crazy!

Thanks, Charlie.

Looks like the 'normal' pushrods were the same all the way to 2010.

I'll get a hold of Mark.

Mark does indeed have a pushrod for me. Good call, Charlie! Now I'm waiting to see if the PO can find the missing one at his place. If he doesn't, I know where to get one.

I question 8.25 dimension, seems a lot shorter!

Eight and a quarter inches is what I measured, and so did Mark.

Now I'm on a quest for the Hydro Update Instruction sheet(s). Know where I can get a copy? Boy, I sure am late to this party!  :boozing:
