Back in the day we used to have to worry about seat pans bottoming out and shorting across the battery if it was sitting too high. Well, nothin's changed...
Decided to deal with my recently acquired California Black Eagle today to figure out why the seat seemed to be so screwed up. It was extremely hard to latch, and the key release proved almost useless.
Well, as you might expect I attacked the mechanism. Then, I moved on the seat fastenings. After working through all that it was the usual. The wrong Battery was installed somewhere along the way...and the replacement is a touch too tall. Of course, the original hold down is long gone, too.
So a new Battery is on order, as is a replacement hold down.
So it goes with buying low mileage, original, untouched used motorcycles...
