V7 850 panniers..?
« on: August 26, 2023, 02:46:11 AM »
Hi all, anyone fitted and can recommend panniers?

The genuine ones are too expensive for me, the main options seem to be the H&b C-Bow and givis.

I’m after hard and soft luggage… any recommendations welcome.

There's some previous discussion on the topic here:

I am running the La Poderosa bags with their mounts and am very happy with them. They are not waterproof, so if I'm touring or expecting rain I carry items in dry bags inside of them.

I'd go with Givi. I have a bunch of them and they have never leaked. Besides, they're made in Italy. All 6 of the H&B have leaked.

Chrisk...I ride a V9 and have been using the HB C-bow system for a few years. I recently replaced the HB Orbit side cases with their Xcore side cases. I much prefer the Xcore cases. They are slightly larger than the Orbit cases, and are better quality, the shape and top loading design makes them much better and easier for packing. Haven't experienced any leakage issues with the Orbit or the Xcore.

Thanks for the info all,

I’ve been put off the c bows as they suggest 80mph max…
On a recent trip through france and germany I’m
hitting 90-100 for long periods so this bothers me.
The givis have a bottom mount as well so thinking about those.

Thoughts..?

Those speed warnings are standard legalese. You will find them on most OEM and aftermarket panniers. In good weather and with reasonable weight distribution it should be fine, but overloaded or catching a strong crosswind or headwind at speed is where you would be more likely to encounter a real world issue with the weight and aerodynamics of the panniers attached to the bike.

I've run across Nevada at 90mph with mine, absolutely no issues. I have also run my cheap Segways, Givi, cases on the CBows with no issues. I also carry more than the suggested maximum weights on a regular basis. CYA is way of these manufacturers.
