Battery Specifications for 2000 Quota ES

I have looked for the battery specs for my Quota project.  I found various battery specs.  Need dimensions and amps for best performance and Positive post location.

Doing some research  gives me many sizes and amps.  Going to use an AGM. 

Decided not to do the hyper motard build and keep it stock.  Hope to have it ready for the Kentucky Rally.

That bike was made at the time Guzzi was switching from 32A to 20A. If there is an evap can in the Batt space it came w/a 20A like later EV's.
If it's a big space, put a big batt like the early EV 32A.  I don't like marginal output.

No evaporation on bike.  There was not a battery in the bike when I bought it.  Looks like it will hold a big battery.

Not quite. 

From what information I can find, the original battery was a Yuasa UTX15L-BS, dimensions were: 3.4"D x 6.87"W x 5.13"H . "I like big batts and I can not lie."

I've owned two Quota's and this is what they came with an Odyssey PC545.

What side is the correct side for the positive and negative post?  The Odyssey PC54 is the only actual battery that will fit with left side negative.  I would like to get a battery from a local source for obvious reasons. Finding a battery that has a left side post and will also fit under the upper frame pushes the cca and ah way down due to the small size.  There are many choices with the positive post on the left. 

Limited to 5-1/2 in maximum height x 3-14 deep x 8-3/8 long.

The I can put the left positive post battery in with the terminal facing away from the outside of the bike.  Putting toward the front of the bike inside.

1100 I presume. Shop man has 2 wiring diag that shows + on left. There is also a drawing that shows the bat + connection right behind left side of bike behind the ECU. On the page for fuses.

Just checked the parts list.  Shows the positive on left as you wrote. What got me headed in the negative on the left is two post reference a left negative post type battery. 

Found a battery at Wally world that has a three year warranty, left side positive, high CCA and agm and fits.

The Odyssey PC545 seems like a good fit, however the positive terminal is on the wrong side, at least in my Quota. The red wire is on the left.

It's hard to find a battery that is short enough for the Quota's odd size compartment. I purchased a Yuasa YIX 30 BL on their site's recommendation, but it is waaay to big! I'll try to pawn it off on some Harley boy round town.

Any luck on a perfect battery fit?

i have a quota pc545 have to put a piece of 2x4 next to it so it don't bounce around

There should be a rubber strap to secure that battery in place.

Went with a XT12, 180 amp Wally world batter.  Fits good.  Plenty of wire length for left or right positive on the bike.  I used a positive on left.
 

The hyper motard dream turned into an all stock restoration. It came from Florida and was full of sand.
