Norge top case & tank bag options
« on: September 02, 2023, 08:44:38 PM »
Looking for options for a top case for my '07 Norge. Givi website lists (0) products specific to the Norge. I see Hepco-Becker lists a rack, and I assume a case that will fit.

This question has been asked before in this site, and most of the responses I see for Givi is "I'm running a Givi box", with no explanation of which mount or which adapters. Even more of a mystery since the GIVI site lists nothing.

I got a GIVI Monokey mounting plate with what look like universal supports, but they don't fit the factory Norge rack. It would be nice to have adapters so I could use that Monokey mount.

Also looking for opinions on a low-profile tank bag, although there are dozens out there and I could probably single one out myself. But with either strap-on or magnetic, I hesitate to mount anything that comes in contact with that beautiful red tank finish. I have a mag tank bag on my Cal 2, but who cares about that paint finish......

Thanks up-front for opinions.

I have a small Givi tanklock bag and I bought a compatible tank ring from a chap, Onur Kuraner. who lives in Turkey.  He had a choice of polished aluminium or ABS and his email address is okuraner@gmail.com.
He wasn't able to accept Paypal at the time due to a Paypal policy, so the transaction was done via Western Union.  He's a really nice bloke and is really easy to deal with.
For the top case, I have a Hepco and Becker rack but no case for it.  I have a couple of universal expansion plates (different sizes) to mount on the rack if I want to put a bag on the rack.  Otherwise, a H & B top case will clip straight into the rack.
Hope that helps,
Steve.

If you could locate a set of Guzzl bags and trunk they work pretty well. The trunk is really good and the side cases okay. They appear to be designed as part of the aerodynamic package of the bike. Have had my 2011 up to 140 indicated with the bags and trunk on and it was rock solid at that speed.

When I bought my Norge (new), it came with the top case and panniers that you see in the shots.
But there was a recall on the mounting plate, the original had (if memory serves), a plastic boss for the latch of the top case to click on to and not worth a damn.
The newer ones have a metal boss.
You can see what I mean in these shots.

Thanks for the tank-ring contact. I assume this involves an adapter that utilizes the filler-ring to provide a basis for keeping a tank bag from abrading the tank surface? I'll reach out.

As far as your description and photos, Huzo, I am still confused over whether you're showing me a factory rack or aftermarket; you don't mention aftermarket but it looks like the factory "rack" (as it appears on mine) was removed and aftermarket adapters were added.

My next post will include pics of my geometry (with seat removed) and the GIVI setup I was given, for a more productive conversation.

Oh, and mine came with the factory side bags, which look cool but I've taken off and may not use except for overnight trips. Not nearly as roomy or easy to use as my old Calafia Fats.

Thanks again!

They do need a supplementary latch on the front too though..

And sure enough, this looks like him: https://www.ebay.com/itm/334936119397?fits=Model%3AStelvio%7CMake%3AMoto+Guzzi&hash=item4dfbbf9865:g:zzAAAOSwX9VjvV10&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4MOsygqy6GQfwiSb4RVR0%2F0msUOkJgH%2B3N74ZMmE40N%2BDg3uLvRU%2FaStx7mxLxJd%2FL3Yd3Qtoe9GJndJDQxZtchD1jL58p7AZx%2FtnfmA9gkmHfiYtrD6hk%2FqkuovLVKH%2FryvzAaLYV2iyw6tE4fVrVLRwVIqFWfhVTkObDiymxWCMbfM7qMhGYz%2BO%2Bt5Gvnm3A8GUXgVvz3iAVMkXcTkYL63kLsgz4IZcOPrTgjfYkn0YAo8RuYEBdhkAX8dXxP%2FgKu2HVeXfb8aEVXcjc28F%2BewPlCK8DakmcqLMrokFPXW%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_DTjrrLYg

Steve: Was the adapter an easy install, and does the Givi bag fit to it with no rotation issues?
That's him, I didn't know that he had a ebay page, might be a new addition.  The install was easy with the instructions included and from my (bad) memory there was one gasket that has to be removed.  No rotation issues with it, just line up the cutout with the centre line of the fuel tank, and the tank lock clip takes care of the location.
