Another Saprisa Question
« on: September 12, 2023, 03:16:19 PM »
Long time ago I removed the crazy unfused electrical feed from the post on the start motor to the ignition that the whole bikes runs off.  AFter a fire on the LeMans I decided no chance on the Mille and instead routed main power directly through the fusebox before its trip off to the ignition switch.

The question is should I do the same for the Saprisa. The Sparisa has three cables, two go off to the reg/rectifier and other goes straight to the pos on the battery and is completely unfused.  Should this be fused and if so, to what value?

If you are talking about the cable/wire that runs between the rectifier and battery it is very short and shouldn't be a problem. If you decide to fuse it a 20 amp fuse should be sufficient. The alternator output is 14 amps. I have a digital ammeter on mine and have never seen it over about 9 amps. At idle the voltage will drop to battery voltage very quickly, at long stops I like to keep the revs up a bit to keep the charge up.

I use the first as described and the second only to monitor amperage. They are tucked away in the fairing on one of the support brackets.
