and when I sober up, I’ll probably pull this thread
But…
I’m at 41,000 feet, over the best (for me) country in the world, becoming altogether too drunk on free wine served by the cabin staff on a QANTAS flight, crossing the Great Australian Bight.
Soon the night will fall and the Southern Cross will be in my right window.

I’ve just finished a triple crossing of Australia @3,800 km each time, delivering brand new Kenworths to buyers in Perth, Western Australia from Melbourne.
Here they are…






The comfort of a QANTAS A330 @ 41,000 feet, feeling loose and satisfied with life, I got onto You Tube and up came this…

It’s the opening 3 minutes and the closing 3 minutes.
It’s incredible how 6 minutes can encapsulate 65 years, but it has always been thus and may it ever be.
It’s the Norge, it’s the wine, it’s Europe, it’s my memories and my life….
If it gets any better, I’m happy to wait, but if it ended now there’d be no complaints from me.
It does not have liquid cooling, it does not have 8 valves, it does not have 120 hp.







The way endearing memories coalesce with immediate reality is often quoted, but when wonderful images of the past ARE your reality, you know you are doing ok…
My Norge is waiting for me in my workshop at home and I know that there’ll be more times together…
If this doesn’t make sense, sit by the fire, warm your feet, have a good drink and THEN tell me I’m wrong…

It’s a rough composite of the DVD with a couple of continuity errors.
But it’s good for reminiscing.
The 2015 and 2016 ones are ok too, if you like that sort of thing.
The Stelvio footage in the both of them is a bit of a fave…

T800's ? I drove T600's and a T800 during a previous career. The 800 was an automatic, didn't care for it. Never want to drive another water truck.

There are a lot of memories that are lost somewhere in the tapestry that forms our past. It’s not until you stand back and let the image form and then the threads begin to bring out the story.
I cannot always disseminate each one from the other, there have been so many moments here and in Europe, but if I look inside my Arai, they are all alive in there.




It was a warm night on the coast where this was taken.

The pizza, the crackle of congenial banter and the unfolding of the moment….
My Arai remembers everything….
