New Guzzi Day: V7 Stone Special
« on: February 01, 2024, 01:00:50 PM »
Hey Peeps,

I just took delivery of my new Moto Guzzi V7 Stone Special:

She is truly beautiful. I live in San Diego now, and today is The Wet Day so no motorcycle riding is permitted. I'm an old Guzzi man, second bike I ever had was a V50 Mk II. This bike is perfect for me.

Beautiful! Enjoy!

Wondering if they discount anything off MSRP? I was looking at a couple used ones, Asking prices not terrible, but I’m used to getting something off, anything. They won’t budge on the used ones.

So I did a little walk round as a post-delivery inspection. One of the rear indicators was not installed correctly:

and it was an easy fix. Up at the headstock, all the control cables were routed under this guard:

and you can see some compression on the cables already. I rectified this:

Have I done this right? It seems to me that this is what the designers intended. Same story on the other side, photo after re-routing:

Under the tank, I found this connector to nowhere:

Does anyone know what the intended purpose of this connector is? I'm looking for a nice pickoff point for a GPS, is this it?

Last, as I don't have my GPS installed yet I put on my Beeline, which is a simple unit and fits the style of the Guzzi really well:

It fits the bike really well...I may have to keep it. My first farkle!

That looks like a connector on my V85TT. It is powered on by the key. Buy the other half to power a GPS, fuse block or whatever. I've heard the cable is available at auto parts stores or Amazon or ebay, 2 conductor water proof connector.

Was a battery tender pigtail installed from the dealer?

Welcome, the V7 is just about the perfect bike by all measures. Certainly as a standard, but can be shaped and formed to suit you and never loses its core character. I love my V7ii Stornello TT.

I used that connector under the seat, which on my V7lll Milano is by the back of the battery, to power a relay that goes to a voltmeter reading battery voltage when keyed. Just to monitor the charging system when using my electric vest.
I believe the original intended use is for a GPS.

Thanks for the replies on the connector guys. Took it out for its first ride today, just over 100 miles. I am in love! It's really the perfect bike for me. Had an absolute blast :thumb:
