Suggested maintenance when changing tires

On the Jackal, specifically regarding the rear wheel, what maintenance items should be performed while the wheel is off the bike?

I need to replace the tires this upcoming week and want to make sure I have all the items I need to do any other work that males sense to do.

Change the rear drive oil, grease the splines.

What Charlie said as well as inspect the wheel bearings. No need to remove them, just give them a turn and see how they feel. Check the seal in the rear drive for leaks.

Yep Iw ill be doing the rear drive lube change.

Any recommendations for spline grease? And do I just smear it on them?

I've found it really likes to be applied to a clean and dry surface - no other grease. I apply it with an old toothbrush.

Beyond inspecting the pads I drive the pads (pucks) back fully into the caliper then suck out the M/C reservoirs with a 60 cc syringe (found at feed & grain store).

Then I replenish the reservoirs with new fluid and cycle the system until the pads are back on the disks with fresh fluid. Give the system a bit of a bleed. Finally top up the master cylinders and seal the system. Set for another year.

While you are at it might as well check to see that floating disks are actually floating. If not spin, clean or remove the buttons as necessary to get the rotors back to floating condition.

You may also want to check out and clean the rear wheel  cush drive rubbers,and plate, to make sure it is free,and working as it should.

I just redid the entire wiring with new tail light and turn signals as whatever it was that MG made the original parts from started disintegrating a few years ago.

This is the first time in 40 plus years of Guzzi ownership that I've heard f replacing the valve stems. Please explain why to educate me. TIA

Well, I thought Moda253 indicated he was replacing tires so......replace valve stems if the tires are tubeless.
