V7iii speedo
« on: December 09, 2023, 07:13:12 PM »
So coming out of infrequent use with oxford battery tender
2017 v7iii  anniversrio (seperate speedo/tacho- tacho replaced already)
on starting speedo does sweep it did read once "GA service" and has spanner icon which is expected cos i did my own service
Speedo worked and both TCS and ABS lights flashing even after riding off
stopped and switched off ignition tried again and speedo didnt work
plugged in guzzidiag reset faults and tried again
tcs and abs lights flashing speedo working so stopped and went to do MGTC reset
went to ride off Speedo not working so tried reset anyway but wouldnt work (assuming due to speedo not working)
checked speedo sensor (i think it is anyway-on rear wheel inside disc within tolerance 2mm and straight)
AAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH HH
Nearest service centre 6hrs away and i figure its the sensor or speedo (but couldnt find a thread on here about it)
anyone have experience with this issue?
anyone fitted aftermarket one piece speedo tacho
Thanks for any advice you can give

Guzzidiag can also diagnose the ABS unit that is the one used for tcs and speed. At the bottom in the guzzidiag bikelist you can find bosch abs and conti abs. Your v7III has a conti abs. You can read errors and when you move the wheels it will show wheelspeed per wheel. That are the basics. I once had a ABS error because the sensor cable touched the tire and was damaged.

Thanks i will give that a try tonight after work
called guy at shop he said seen as speedo was doing full sweep at start up and stopping in correct place
his guess was ABS/speedo sensor so be good to prove it before i order one.

It just makes you want to pitch the whole damn thing away and buy a Honda.
You pay good money and walk past a lot of good bikes to take a Guzzi home and you get this unadulterated crap…!
Just cheap and nasty wog complication, why can’t you just have a damn speedo cable and analogue clocks. Even when it’s working great, you’re waiting for the first time that it doesn’t.

I know that you know, what I mean.
If it was a Honda, it wouldn’t do that crap.

I also have a Carlo Guzzi signature series fire extinguisher that I attempted put into good use at a certain camping park in Millau…
I unpackaged it at the very moment I needed it most and it went off prematurely in my hand..!
I guess that happens as you get older, just like most things… :embarrassed:
But you’re welcome to it with the bike…(the fire extinguisher that is…)

But as you ex pat Brits are given to utter…?
“All’s well wot ends well eh…?”
